Voluntary blood donation (HMTN) is a noble and humane gesture. 24 years ago, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 43/2000/QD-TTg on mobilizing and encouraging Voluntary blood donation and designated April 7 every year as "All-People Voluntary blood donation Day”. This is an important milestone in the movement of voluntary blood donation, creating a strong change in the awareness and action at all levels of the government and people from all walks of life.

The voluntary blood donation festival in Mai Chau district has attracted the participation of a large number of officials and people.

Mr. Nguyen Van Huy is honored to be one of the outstanding individuals selected by the Steering Committee of the Provincial Voluntary Blood Donation Mobilization to attend the Ceremony to honor the outstanding national blood donors in 2023. Up to now, he has participated 37 times in the movement of voluntary blood donation, at the same time, he has mobilized more than 300 people, including relatives, friends and colleagues to register to donate blood.

Mr. Huy says: I’m am very honored and proud to be selected by the Provincial Steering Committee of the Steering Committee of the Provincial Voluntary Blood Donation Mobilization to participate in the Ceremony to honor the outstanding national blood donors in 2023. Since my time in school, I have participated in blood donation days organized by the school and I am aware that blood donation is a noble, silent action to help someone. Since I satrted my work, I have regularly encouraged my colleagues to participate every time when there is a blood donation campaign. For To me, voluntary blood donation is an action with profound humanitarian meaning, giving life opportunities to patients with serious diseases and people in accidents who need blood for emergency care.”

In order to supplement the shortage of blood at hospitals, the Steering Committee of the Provincial Voluntary Blood Donation Mobilization has developed the practical plans and organized safe blood donation sessions for officials, medical staff, volunteers and people. Currently, in the whole province there are 178 the Steering Committee of Voluntary Blood Donation Mobilization at the grassroots level, 82 blood donation clubs with nearly 2,467 people, of which, 41 clubs mobilize blood donation with 902 people, 19 reserve blood donation clubs with 1,228 people, 22 blood donation family clubs with 337 people, being ready to donate blood whenever a patient needs support.

Mr. Bui Quoc Viet, Chairman of the Provincial Red Cross, the Deputy Head of the the Steering Committee of the Provincial Voluntary Blood Donation Mobilization says: Every year, the Steering Committee coordinates with the Central Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion to organize many blood donation festivals to provide blood and support emergency treatment at hospitals. The programs "Red Journey”, "Rose drops of Da River”, "Rose Spring Festival”... have attracted a large number of officials, civil servants, public employees, soldiers of the armed forces and the people in the province to register. The provincial Public Seccurity, the Provincial Youth Communnist Union... also responded to the movement of voluntary blood donation with the themes "Blood drops for beloved comrades and compatriots”, "Red Sunday”, "Your And My Life”… At the same time, they organize a preliminary review and summary of the annual movement of the voluntary blood donation and reward groups and individuals with the outstanding achievements in implementing the movement, thereby it helps spreading the movement widely to the community.

From 2023 to the end of the first quarter of 2024, the Steering Committee of the Provincial Voluntary Blood Donation Mobilization along with the districts and the city has promoted its core role in the humanitarian cause, propaganda work, and mobilization of human resources. They have organized 24 blood donation days, attracting 13,292 participants and collecting 15,968 blood units (after conversion). This result was achieved thanks to the response of numerous officials, civil servants, soldiers, youth union members and people throughout the province. The Provincial Steering Committee and the Steering Committees at the grassroots continue to promote extensive propaganda on mass media, social networks, flyers, and posters about the meaning of voluntary blood donation in the community with the message "Donating blood saves lives - giving life”..

The blood drops of gratitude not only bring a chance to life for many sick people, but they also show affection, sharing and spread the spirit of solidarity and love in the community. It is known that 1 blood bag is produced into 3 blood products, so just 1 blood transfusion can save life of 3 people. According to the Provincial Steering Committee, in order for the movement of voluntary bloood donation to spread more and more widely, the agencies and individuals need to continue to respond, propagate and participate in blood donation to meet the needs of emergency and treatment in the localities, medical facilities and hospitals.
