The Secretary of the Hoa Binh Party Committee Nguyen Phi Long on November 23 chaired a meeting of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board for November, during which participants gave their opinions on the implementation of the locality’s tasks in 2023 and a number of important issues in the province’s socio-economic development.

Participants at the meeting agreed that this year, amid the complicated regional and world situation and various difficulties, the provincial Party Committee has rolled out drastic and comprehensive measures to complete its political tasks. As a result, 14 out of the 19 socio-economic targets have been fulfilled and overfulfilled.

Hoa Binh has completed the design of the provincial planning for the 2021-2030 period with a vision to 2050, while speeding up administrative reform and improving the local business and environment to attract more investment.

The province’s gross regional domestic product (GRDP) growth rate is likely to reach 0.38%, while per capita GRDP is estimated at 69.09 million VND (2,849 USD). Total state budget collection is estimated at 4,350 billion VND. Hoa Binh’s poverty rate is likely to decrease by 2.5% year on year to 9.79%. Meanwhile, political security, defence situation and social order and safety have been ensured.

Participants also pointed to difficulties and shortcomings in the leadership and direction activities during the implementation of tasks and targets for 2023, especially in State budget collection and disbursement of public investment capital.

They stressed the need for the provincial Party Committee and People’s Committee to focus on speeding up the collection of State budget, strengthen inspection and settlement of violations during the disbursement of public investment capital, hasten underway projects, and make adjustments in expenditure.

Delegates showed consensus on the overall targets, tasks and solution for 2024 with 20 specific indicators, including a GRDP growth of 9%, State budget collection of 5.7 trillion VND, per capita GRDP of 77.59 million VND, and poverty rate following multidimensional standards reducing by 2.5%.

They also contributed their opinions to a proposal on the adjustments of policy for a number of projects and some other proposals.

Concluding the event, Secretary Long expressed delight at the province’s performance in 2023. He stressed that in 2024, the province should continue to focus on the building of the Party and political system as well as planning, education, and personnel training, while preparing for the Party Congress at all levels.

The province should strengthen inspection and monitoring over areas drawing social attention, while strictly handling violations, the provincial leader said. He asked the Party Delegation to the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee to give feedback on policies and supervise local officials and Party members, especially leadership and management officials.

Long also underlined the need to continue to implement national target programmes and major projects, speed up the disbursement of public investment, complet the infrastructure of local industrial parks, and pay greater attention to developing culture, society and education.
