The volleyball matches at Khai Ha – Muong Bi Festival in 2020 attracted a large number of people to follow and cheer.
On the main day of Khai Ha - Muong Bi festival, two volleyball courts at Phong Phu Stadium are the place for the semi-final and final of men's and women's events. The first match was to take place at about 8.00, but at 7 o'clock, the court was completely surrounded by the audience even though the athletes had not yet started. Mr. Bui Van Lanh, a resident of Dich Giao commune (now it is Phong Phu commune after merging), says: "According to experience from the previous years, if you come later, there is no favorable place to watch the match. Though my house is only less than 1 km away, we have arrived early to pick up the place. In our commune as well as in the neighboring communes, people love volleyball so we all go and cheer the tournaments organized by the district, the commune or the village.”
According to Mr. Bui Van Thong, the Cultural Officer of Nhan My Commune (Nhan My is a newly merged commune from 3 communes: Do Nhan, Tuan Lo and Quy My), volleyball has long become a favorite sport of people after a hardworking day as it a purely agricultural commune. Recently the facilities have been invested, there are villages with 2 to 3 concreted volleyball courts. In addition to playing skin volleyball, there are soft volleyball in recent years, so people of all ages can play. It is not only a sports for physical training, but the organization of exchanges and volleyball competitions also tightens the solidarity of the people.
With these practical meanings, Mr. Dinh Son Tung, the head of the Department of Culture and Information of Tan Lac District emphasizes: The Department will advise the People's Committee of the district to organize annual tournaments to meet the people’s needs. At the same time, it is continuously important to encourage people to do exercises and play sports, especially playing volleyball to improve health. Thereby, the potential athletes can be detected and fostered to compete and achieve higher achievements at volleyball tournaments organized by the province.
