The Lao Cai Cultural Tourism Week will take place from June 1 to 9, promising to feature various activities.

The programme has been co-organised by the Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee, the departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Agriculture and Rural Development, Information and Communication, as well as the tourism association of Lao Cai province.

Accordingly, a series of activities, including the Bac Ha (Lao Cai) – Xin Man (Ha Giang) Cycling Tournament from June 1 to 3, which will attract nearly 100 racers; a Street Festival on June 2 at Bac Ha town; and a Plum festival from June 3 to 6, with 20 booths displaying agricultural products, such as Tam hoa plums, Nam Xit rice, Tuyet San organic tea, safe vegetables, honey, and mushrooms of Bac Ha, Si Ma Cai, Muong Khuong, Bao Yen (Lao Cai) and Xin Man (Ha Giang)

As part of the programme, a number of cultural and tourism events will be held at Hoang A Tuong Palace from June 3 to 9.

The closing ceremony of the Lao Cai Cultural Tourism Week 2018 will be held at 8pm on June 9.

The Cultural Week aims to introduce and promote tourism products, handicrafts, culinary culture, and other products of the ethnic groups, highlighting the creativity and traditional culture of the ethnic minorities in Lao Cai in general and Bac Ha district in particular.

The event also aims to encourage the conservation and production of traditional handicrafts, promote the participation of the ethnic communities in order to attract tourists, develop tourism, contribute to improving hunger eradication and poverty reduction, and attract resources to develop tourism, as well as promote the image of Bac Ha tourism to domestic and foreign tourists.

In the first 9 months of 2024, Mai Chau district, Hoa Binh province welcomed over 684 thousand visitors to visit and relax. In which, over 516 thousand domestic visitors and more than 168 thousand international visitors. Total revenue from tourism is estimated at over 821 billion VND.
