A new speed boat was officially launched in the central province of Quang Tri on August 31, facilitating tourist travel from the Quang Tri mainland to Con Co Island.

Con Co high-speed boat, code name QT 00666, was built at a total cost of VND24.1 billion. The aluminum hulled vessel measures 27.5 m in length, 5.5 m in width and 2.5 m in height and boasts a 1,200 horsepower engine. It was designed to have a maximum speed of 25 knots.

The boat can carry 80 passengers and five crew members and is capable of operating in windy conditions up to a wind speed of 29-38 km/h.

The launch of the Con Co tourist high-speed boat is expected to meet the travel demands of the islanders, while creating important conditions for local tourism development associated with the consolidation of national defence and security in the island district.
