The 2018 Vietnam Travel and Tourism Summit will be held for the first time in Hanoi, from December 5-6, under the framework of Vietnam Economic Forum (ViEF).
The 2018 Vietnam Travel and Tourism Summit will be held from December 5-6.
The event will offer an opportunity for enterprises and investors in Vietnam and abroad to comprehensively grasp strategies and potentials, as well as challenges, for Vietnamese tourism’s development.
The summit’s first session will take place on December 5 under the theme of ‘The need for restructuring the sector’. The delegates will discuss the infrastructure of Vietnamese tourism, measures to attract investment and human training in the field.
‘Sustainable development of Vietnamese tourism until 2030’ will be the theme of the high-level session on December 6, with a research report from the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) as well as memoirs on improving competitiveness for tourism, destination management and aviation infrastructure.
On the occasion, a signing ceremony will be held regarding investment from international businesses to Vietnam and from domestic enterprises to localities as well as strategy funds for Vietnam Travel and Tourism Summit in the next three-five years.
The organising board invited founders, chairmen and general directors of the world’s largest tourism corporations from major tourism markets of Vietnam; along with senior representatives from the World Tourism Organisation and many other international agencies, to attend the summit.
Notably, the event will also feature the presence of Google’s leaders of Asia-Pacific Operations and CNN's Senior Vice-President for Asia-Pacific.

The man-made Hoa Binh Lake, with a water surface area of approximately 9,000 hectares and a capacity of 9.45 billion cubic meters, stretches over 200 kilometers from Hoa Binh to Son La provinces. With the goal of developing into a national tourism area, the Hoa Binh Lake tourism area is expected to not only become the largest tourism centre in the province but also one of the 12 key tourist destinations in the northern midland and mountainous region of Vietnam.
Da Bia hamlet, now Duc Phong, in Tien Phong commune, Da Bac district, was once almost isolated from the outside as the only way to the hamlet was to get a boat ride across the Hoa Binh reservoir. However, as its tourism potential has been unleashed, the hamlet has established itself as one of the most attractive destinations on the tourism map. It has even received the ASEAN Community-Based Tourism Awards in 2019.
In the first 9 months of 2024, Mai Chau district, Hoa Binh province welcomed over 684 thousand visitors to visit and relax. In which, over 516 thousand domestic visitors and more than 168 thousand international visitors. Total revenue from tourism is estimated at over 821 billion VND.
