(HBO) - Kien Mountain Cave is a natural one, of which the arches and stalactites have formed a beautiful landscape. The cave is located in the heart of Kien mountain in Huop hamlet, Lung Van commune (Tan Lac). With the value of aesthetics, art and tourism, Kien mountain cave has been recognized as a scenic beauty spot at the provincial level by the People's Committee under Decision No. 11/QD-UBND, dated on January 4, 2019.
Located at an altitude of 30 meters above the foot of the mountain, Kien Mountain cave is 200 m deep into the mountain with the widest part of about 30 meters and the arch of from 1 to 20 meters high. The cave has 2 doors, both of which are facing the northwest. One door is 1 meter high, 4 meters wide, the other one is 0.8 meter in height and 1.8 meters in width.
According to the survey, Kien Mountain cave is divided into 6 main cave arches with a different height for each arch and countless of miraculous stalactites for visitors’ discovery and creativity. When entering the cave in the first cave arch, visitors will see the stalactite columns hanging from the ceiling like beautiful white waterfalls. On either side of the cave cliff, the stalactites like the soft silky ribbons are brushed down from the top.
The second cave arch is also the largest as well as the most beautiful with many magic stalactites. From the ceiling, there are countless of stalactite drops like the decorative lights. The layers of stalagmites, stone pillars have been raised under the cave floor. They are evenly distributed throughout the cave, but they do not follow any rules. Each cave cliff is a feat and every cave arch is a masterpiece of nature. Close to the right cliff under the cave floor, there are many stalactites like the stretching coral reefs, protruding tiny and beautiful, layer after layer. There are segments like shored terraced fields, which look like a little playfully dragon by the lake.
Going through all the way to the third, fourth and fifth cave arches and returning to the second one, turning left visitors will come to the sixth cave arch. In these cave arches, there are countless of stalactites of different sizes, which are hanging from the ceiling hanging down to the cave floor and they look like the old banian tree spreading the luxuriant foliage. From the ceiling of the arches, the stalactite drops fall down softly with vibrant colours. The water droplets are stagnant on the sparkling and vaporous stalactite drops. The images are hidden at the moment from the view, creating visitors the feeling of reality and damage as standing in the magnificent palace of the medieval king.
Kien Mountain Cave is one of the most beautiful caves in Hoa Binh. There are many stalactites, stalagmites, stone columns with many interesting and attractive shapes, making the cave a natural art museum. It contains a lot of harmonious and beautiful sculptures, architectures and paintings, which help visitors have a lot of sense of beauty and also help artists have many ideas to compose. In particular, Nui Kien cave is also located in the relics complex of Tan Lac district with many different and diverse types such as the archaeological relics of Muoi and Bung caves; the relics of Nam Son cave, Hoa Tien cave, Muong Chieng cave, Cot Co mountain and Thac Bo cave – a great attraction for many tourists to visit and enjoy.
In the first 9 months of 2024, Hoa Binh province continues to implement the expanded tourism development cooperation program plan of 8 Northwest provinces with Ho Chi Minh City; deploying digital transformation content in tourism and developing a smart tourism province. Hoa Binh province received about 3.6 million views, an increase of 7.9% over the same period. In which, international visitors are about 380 visitors, domestic visitors are estimated at 3 million 220 visitors.

The man-made Hoa Binh Lake, with a water surface area of approximately 9,000 hectares and a capacity of 9.45 billion cubic meters, stretches over 200 kilometers from Hoa Binh to Son La provinces. With the goal of developing into a national tourism area, the Hoa Binh Lake tourism area is expected to not only become the largest tourism centre in the province but also one of the 12 key tourist destinations in the northern midland and mountainous region of Vietnam.
Da Bia hamlet, now Duc Phong, in Tien Phong commune, Da Bac district, was once almost isolated from the outside as the only way to the hamlet was to get a boat ride across the Hoa Binh reservoir. However, as its tourism potential has been unleashed, the hamlet has established itself as one of the most attractive destinations on the tourism map. It has even received the ASEAN Community-Based Tourism Awards in 2019.
In the first 9 months of 2024, Mai Chau district, Hoa Binh province welcomed over 684 thousand visitors to visit and relax. In which, over 516 thousand domestic visitors and more than 168 thousand international visitors. Total revenue from tourism is estimated at over 821 billion VND.
