(HBO) - The Steering Committee of the tourism development in 8 expanded Northwestern provinces held a conference to summarize the Program of tourism development cooperation in 8 Northwestern provinces in 2019 and to deploy the cooperation in 2020. The leaders from Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, the leaders of the People's Committees of Yen Bai, Phu Tho, Son La, Lai Chau, Lao Cai, Dien Bien and Ha Giang provinces attended the conference. Mr. Nguyen Van Chuong, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, on behalf of our province, also attended the conference.

are transferring the flag to organize the Cooperation Program of tourism
development in 8 expanded Northwestern provinces in 2020 to Hoa Binh province's
leaders.
In 2019, the People's Committee of the provinces directed to
implement a lot of rich and exciting activities. The infrastructure investment
and tourism human resource training have been focused. The tourism products and
services have step by step been improved. A lot of tourism destinations such as
Fansipan peak, Mu Cang Chai terraced fields, Dong Van rock plateau, Hung Temple
historical complex, Dien Bien Phu battlefield vestige area, Moc Chau plateau,
Sin Ho plateau have been voted as attractive destinations for tourists by
tourist magazines in the country and the world. In 2019, the total number of
visitors to the region was estimated at nearly 35 million, increasing 70.5%
compared to that of 2018, of which the international visitors reached nearly 5
million, increasing 52%. The revenue was estimated at nearly 53,000 billion
VND, increasing 30.6%.
The representatives of the provinces discussed the main
contents of the development cooperation program and frankly pointed out some
shortcomings and limitations. They have proposed that the Ministry of Culture,
Sports and Tourism and Vietnam National Administration of Tourism care and
support the training of human resources, support inviting businesses and
investors to survey and invest in the projects of tourism development in the
expanded Northwestern provinces. They have also proposed the People's Committee
of the member provinces to actively coordinate the implementation of activities
in the program and plan for cooperation and tourism development among the
expanded Northwestern provinces, paying attention to building the
inter-provincial tourism products and programs to develop tourism in 8
provinces.
Regarding some of the key tasks in 2020, the delegates have
agreed to strengthen the cooperation in building the mechanisms and policies
for tourism management and development, the cooperation in tourism product
development, propagandizing and promoting tourism and cooperating in developing
local tourism human resources.
On this occasion, the leaders from Yen Bai People's
Committee handed over the flag to organize the Cooperation Program of tourism
development in 8 expanded Northwestern provinces in 2020 to the leaders of Hoa
Binh People's Committee.
In the first 9 months of 2024, Hoa Binh province continues to implement the expanded tourism development cooperation program plan of 8 Northwest provinces with Ho Chi Minh City; deploying digital transformation content in tourism and developing a smart tourism province. Hoa Binh province received about 3.6 million views, an increase of 7.9% over the same period. In which, international visitors are about 380 visitors, domestic visitors are estimated at 3 million 220 visitors.
Spanning thousands of hectares and winding gracefully along mountain slopes, hillsides, and riverbanks, the terraced rice fields of Lac Son District present a stunning and captivating beauty. This region, renowned for its remarkable terraced landscapes, is also the centre of Hoa Binh Culture known for numerous archaeological sites.
The life of Mong people in Hang Kia and Pa Co communes of Mai Chau district has improved much thanks to tourism development.
The man-made Hoa Binh Lake, with a water surface area of approximately 9,000 hectares and a capacity of 9.45 billion cubic meters, stretches over 200 kilometers from Hoa Binh to Son La provinces. With the goal of developing into a national tourism area, the Hoa Binh Lake tourism area is expected to not only become the largest tourism centre in the province but also one of the 12 key tourist destinations in the northern midland and mountainous region of Vietnam.
Da Bia hamlet, now Duc Phong, in Tien Phong commune, Da Bac district, was once almost isolated from the outside as the only way to the hamlet was to get a boat ride across the Hoa Binh reservoir. However, as its tourism potential has been unleashed, the hamlet has established itself as one of the most attractive destinations on the tourism map. It has even received the ASEAN Community-Based Tourism Awards in 2019.
In the first 9 months of 2024, Mai Chau district, Hoa Binh province welcomed over 684 thousand visitors to visit and relax. In which, over 516 thousand domestic visitors and more than 168 thousand international visitors. Total revenue from tourism is estimated at over 821 billion VND.
