(HBO) - In early 2019, Tan Lac district was invested about 458,665,000 VND for the development of community tourism by the non-governmental organization AOP. Up to now, the project has been implemented in 2 community tourist sites in Phu Cuong and Nam Son communes (now it is Van Son commune). After a period of operation, the project has created the livelihoods and increased incomes for the local people.

With the support of AOP, 3 households in Chien hamlet, Nam Son commune has been supported with loans to renovate their houses and participate in training on community tourism skills. The project has also supported the construction of convenience stores to help the business people. At the end of July, 2019, the community tourism site in Chien hamlet officially came into operation. Up till now, this tourism site has attracted thousands of tourists to visit and explore, bringing profits for people, which is several times higher than farming.
Up to now, the district has attracted 10 investment projects in the field of tourism. Among them, 5 projects with the investment policies were approved by the Provincial People's Committee. The remaining 5 projects are in the process of appraising, consulting and approving the investment policies. There are no projects that are behind schedule in the district. All of the projects are of quite large scales and capital sources. The operation of the construction projects is in a large area and they have the ability to meet the demand for resorts of high quality for tourists.
The projects approved by the province are the Resort and Ecotourism Project within Hoa Binh lake in Ngoi Hoa Commune (now it is Suoi Hoa Commune) of Lac Hong Investment joint Stock Company with the total invesstement of 800 billion dongs, the project of eco-tourism and nature conservation zone in May valley in Quyet Chien commune of Hoa Binh Clean Agriculture joint Stock Company with the total investment of over 130 billion VND, the project of Thung Khe spiritual and eco-tourism area in Phu Cuong commune of Cat Tuong Thien joint Stock Company with the total investment of 300 billion VND, the project of Ngoi Hoa eco-tourism of Hoang Son Energy - Construction - Trading Investment joint Stock Company with the total investment of over 474 billion VND, and the project of V’Star - Ngoi Hoa eco-tourism area in Ngoi Hoa commune of V’Star joint Stock Company with the total investment of 125 billion VND.
The projects which are in the process of appraising, asking for opinions and submitting for approval of the investment policy include the project of Ngoi Hoa eco-tourism area in Ngoi Hoa commune of Hoshi Vietnam joint Stock Company, the project of forest protection combining with convalescence in Mai Chau and Tan Lac districts of Gia Ngan One Member Company Limited, the project of building a community cultural tourism village of Muong ethnic people in Ngoi hamlet of Hoa Binh Tourism Investment joint Stock Company, the project of Ho Guom - Song Da eco-tourism area of Ho Guom Group joint Stock Company with the expected investment of 450 billion VND, and the project of the eco-tourism area in Dao Hoa valley in Ngoi Hoa commune of Hoa Binh Clean Agriculture joint Stock Company with the expected investment of 150 billion VND.
The district has been actively attracting and calling investors in the field of tourism. Besides, the district has well implemented the state management of tourism. The human resources for tourism have been improved. The propaganda and promotion activities have been promoted and people's awareness of tourism has made positive changes.
Tourism of Tan Lac district has been gradually flourishing, trying to become a key economic sector. In 2019, the total tourist coming to Tan Lac is 130,658 turns of visitors, reaching 106.5% of the set plan by the province (increased 24,192 passengers compared to that of 2018). In which, the international visitors are 4,506 turns and the domestic ones are 125,652 turns. The total income from tourism are 45,025 million VND, reaching 100.6% of the set plan by the province.
In the first 9 months of 2024, Hoa Binh province continues to implement the expanded tourism development cooperation program plan of 8 Northwest provinces with Ho Chi Minh City; deploying digital transformation content in tourism and developing a smart tourism province. Hoa Binh province received about 3.6 million views, an increase of 7.9% over the same period. In which, international visitors are about 380 visitors, domestic visitors are estimated at 3 million 220 visitors.
Spanning thousands of hectares and winding gracefully along mountain slopes, hillsides, and riverbanks, the terraced rice fields of Lac Son District present a stunning and captivating beauty. This region, renowned for its remarkable terraced landscapes, is also the centre of Hoa Binh Culture known for numerous archaeological sites.
The life of Mong people in Hang Kia and Pa Co communes of Mai Chau district has improved much thanks to tourism development.
The man-made Hoa Binh Lake, with a water surface area of approximately 9,000 hectares and a capacity of 9.45 billion cubic meters, stretches over 200 kilometers from Hoa Binh to Son La provinces. With the goal of developing into a national tourism area, the Hoa Binh Lake tourism area is expected to not only become the largest tourism centre in the province but also one of the 12 key tourist destinations in the northern midland and mountainous region of Vietnam.
Da Bia hamlet, now Duc Phong, in Tien Phong commune, Da Bac district, was once almost isolated from the outside as the only way to the hamlet was to get a boat ride across the Hoa Binh reservoir. However, as its tourism potential has been unleashed, the hamlet has established itself as one of the most attractive destinations on the tourism map. It has even received the ASEAN Community-Based Tourism Awards in 2019.
In the first 9 months of 2024, Mai Chau district, Hoa Binh province welcomed over 684 thousand visitors to visit and relax. In which, over 516 thousand domestic visitors and more than 168 thousand international visitors. Total revenue from tourism is estimated at over 821 billion VND.
