(HBO) - According to the plan of provincial tourism development in the period of 2014 - 2020, with the vision to 2030, Lac Son district belongs to the tourism cluster of Mai Chau - Tan Lac - Lac Son - Cao Phong. With the rich and outstanding ecological resources with many products oriented to be exploited, ecotourism combined with resorting has been selected as a tourism highlight in the ancient land of Muong Vang.

Mu waterfall with the beautiful scenery is an important condition for developing ecotourism in Tu Do commune (Lac Son).

Arriving in the highland communes such as Quy Hoa, Ngoc Lau, Ngoc Son, Tu Do of the district, visitors will be overwhelmed by the beautiful and majestic nature. There are irresistible stops such as Bai Nha paragliding point in Ngoc Son commune. Then it is Bai Bui field in Ngoc Lau commune with a poetic scenery, stretching for many hectares, with the advantage of being on the trekking route of Ngoc Son - Ngo Luong - Cuc Phuong. Further going, visitors will see the famous Mu waterfall in Tu Do commune, which has been formed by an underground stream from a majestic mountain range over 1,000 meters high above the sea level in the Nature Reserve of Ngoc Son - Ngon Luong. A tourism destination that has been recently loved to experience by many people is Thung Hill - Quy Hoa commune with the charming scenery and many unique cultural features of Muong ethnic people that are still preserved.

In recent years, the destinations at Bai Bui field, Ba Nha paragliding point, Thung hill, Mu waterfall ... are increasingly known on the tourism maps. In particular, Bai Bui field has been attracting many young people to admire the scenery, organize entertainment activities such as camping, campfire ... Doi Thung with the highland climate, the peaceful nature, the hilly and mountainous ecological environment is idial for the development of resorts. Mu waterfall with its pristine scenery in particular has been exploited quite effectively in tourism, forming a homestay accommodation to meet the needs of domestic and foreign guests.

In addition, the district has many potentials for ecotourism development in combination with convalescence such as Re Lake - An Nghia Commune, Canh Tang Lake - Yen Phu Commune, Kha Lake - Quy Hoa Commune. Furthermore, there are famous landscapes of Da Ly cave in Tre village, Van Nghia commune, Chua Khop cave in Da hamlet, Yen Phu commune, Da Mu cave in Fox hamlet, Quy Hoa commune ...

Particularly, the ancient land of Muong Vang has a unique culture associated with the festival of Coi communal house, the typical rituals, customs, beliefs, historical sites and revolutionary culture. Of which, Muong Khoi battle zone in Re hamlet, An Nghia commune has been ranked as the national relic. The memorial for Tay Tien martyrs has been ranked as the provincial monument. Some other relics such as Cay Da temple in Nghia hamlet, Vu Ban town, Trai village’s cave in Trai hamlet, Tan Lap commune, the Rock Roof in Vanh hamlet, Khu Dung cave, Coi communal house - Vu Binh commune, Bang temple – Ngoc Lau commune. Muong gong festivals of Muong Vang and Muong Vo, the down-field festival in Yen Phu commune, Du Voi festival in Vu Ban town, But Khu Dung procession in Nhan Nghia commune.

The mountainous and hilly natural landscape combined with the lake’s ecology, the temperate climate, the scenic system and Muong Vang cultural value are the outstanding potentials for the local tourism development. The district has been actively calling for investment attraction, creating a premise for infrastructure for tourism development, promoting propaganda to raise the people's awareness in preserving the cultural values associated with tourism development. At the same time, they have been strengthening advertising and calling for investment promotion to build the conservation area of Muong cultural space and resort spots. They have also been implementing the linkage to develop tourism routes connecting with tourism destinations of Kim Boi and Mai Chau districts, and the neighboring districts of Cam Thuy (Thanh Hoa), Cuc Phuong National Park (Ninh Binh). The district is trying to welcome 3,000 turns of international tourists by 2020, serving 110,000 turns of domestic tourists. The total revenue from tourism has reached 42 billion VND, creating jobs for over 300 direct employees.

According to the Hoa Binh provincial Department of Planning and Investment, in Hoa Binh Lake tourist area, there are currently 16 licensed or certified service, cultural and tourism investment projects with a land use area of about 1,444 hectares, and a total capital of over 3.3 trillion VND (133.5 million USD). In addition to investment attraction, the province is speeding up the implementation of projects so as to realise a goal of developing Hoa Binh Lake tourist area into a national one.
