(HBO) – Kim Boi district of Hoa Binh province welcomed 20,000 tourist arrivals and earned more than 18 billion VND (780,000 USD) in tourism revenue in the first three months of 2021. Thanks to the COVID-19 containment, the number of visitors to local places of interest has been growing strongly, especially on the weekend.
The Serena Resort Kim Boi eco-tourism site in Sao Bay commune (Kim Boi district) is a magnet to tourists on the weekend.
Kim Boi is blessed with magnificent landscapes and, especially, an abundant source of thermal mineral water which is assessed by experts as one of the best sources of its kind in the world. The district is also renowned for folk culture and traditional festivals deeply imbued with cultural identities of residents in the Muong Dong area. These potential and advantages are being capitalised on so as to develop high-quality tourism.
The Serena Resort Kim Boi eco-tourism site in Khai Doi hamlet of Sao Bay commune is among popular destinations in the province. Other areas like the Kim Boi mineral spring tourism site in Ha Bi commune, the An Lac Eco Farm Hot and Springs in Vinh Dong commune, and the V-Resort Kim Boi in Vinh Tien commune are also attractive to visitors from nationwide. Statistics show that they receive about 150 – 200 visitors each on the weekend.
Recently, the Hoa Binh provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has conducted a survey of tourism activities in Kim Boi.
Deputy Director of the department Bui Xuan Truong said this district boasts advantages for developing ecological and leisure tourism areas.
These sites have seen stability in the traveller number and revenue, helping to secure steady jobs for employees, he noted, adding that the ecotourism sites of Serena, An Lac Eco Farm Hot and Springs, and V-Resort Kim Boi have provided jobs for about 350 people, most of whom are local residents./.
In the first 9 months of 2024, Hoa Binh province continues to implement the expanded tourism development cooperation program plan of 8 Northwest provinces with Ho Chi Minh City; deploying digital transformation content in tourism and developing a smart tourism province. Hoa Binh province received about 3.6 million views, an increase of 7.9% over the same period. In which, international visitors are about 380 visitors, domestic visitors are estimated at 3 million 220 visitors.

The man-made Hoa Binh Lake, with a water surface area of approximately 9,000 hectares and a capacity of 9.45 billion cubic meters, stretches over 200 kilometers from Hoa Binh to Son La provinces. With the goal of developing into a national tourism area, the Hoa Binh Lake tourism area is expected to not only become the largest tourism centre in the province but also one of the 12 key tourist destinations in the northern midland and mountainous region of Vietnam.
Da Bia hamlet, now Duc Phong, in Tien Phong commune, Da Bac district, was once almost isolated from the outside as the only way to the hamlet was to get a boat ride across the Hoa Binh reservoir. However, as its tourism potential has been unleashed, the hamlet has established itself as one of the most attractive destinations on the tourism map. It has even received the ASEAN Community-Based Tourism Awards in 2019.
In the first 9 months of 2024, Mai Chau district, Hoa Binh province welcomed over 684 thousand visitors to visit and relax. In which, over 516 thousand domestic visitors and more than 168 thousand international visitors. Total revenue from tourism is estimated at over 821 billion VND.
