Da River fish is white, aromatic and pure. The fish is greasy but it is worth eating. The dishesof Da River fish are delicious, easy to eat and remember. Nowadays, just coming to tourism spots withinthe area of Hoa Binh Lake, you can easily find and enjoy grilled fish, dried fish sold by local people. The kinds of grilled fish that are very attractive under the hands of the local people are brown and aromatic. After being caught, the fish is cleaned by taking intestines out, mixing with salt and thengrilledon the clamps. The fish is sandwiched byfresh bamboo tones and thengrilled on live coals. When putting it on the charcoal for a few minutes, you can hear the hiss of fish and smell the emissive scent. You can savor fish at the bank of the lake with spices such as "doi” seed, chili, salt, lemon and sour bamboo shoots; looking at a view of clouds and water space that gives the feeling of relaxation and interest.

The common fish of Da River such as Hemiculter leucisculus, Elopicthys bambusa, Scardinius erythropthalmus and so on are easy to find and catch. You can just dry and then place it into a refrigerator for the whole year. The dried fish that is greased when eating are extremely attractive. Bringing it as gifts for relatives is also precious. If you have time, you can go to the markets, restaurants in the city or the lake area to enjoy the attractively processed fish including grilled fish, steamed fish, cooked fish with sour bamboo shoots, steamed fish with beer and so on. The steamed intestines of fish with native wild vegetables and the grilled fish with "doi” seed, lime leaves, wormwood leaves and fig leaves are stronglysweet and buttery.

Many kinds of precious and high nutrient fish such as Bagarius yarreli, Hemibagrus, eel, loach and so on that are enjoyed by tourists in Da River are considered specialities. They aremaking the brand name of Da River fish. Many other types of fish including Clarias fuscus, Crucian carp and eel in Da River have both of nutritional and therapeutic value.

According to a number of scientific investigations in recent years, there are about 174 species of fish, belongingto 85 genera, 19 families and 6 orders within the Da River area. In there, the carp has the richest composition with 123 species, belonging to 59 genera, accounting for 70.6% of the total species. The next is mudfish with 28 species, belongingto 12 genera, accounting for 16% of the total species. Especially, 19 species of high economic value, 8 species of precious fish including Bagarius yarrelli, Semilabeo notabilis, Hemibagrus and Sinilabeo lemassomi are listed in the red book. There are 13 fish species playing an important role in the economic life of the local people withinthe Da River area. They are Ctenopharyngodon idella, Hypophthalmichthys, Cyprinus carpio, Hypophthalmichthys nobilis, Bagarius bagarius and so on. The province is implementing the management and good exploitation of provincial potentiality and making the trademark of Da River fish in association with tourism development and improvement of the people’s life within Da River reservoir./.
