(HBO)- Y Mua has realized that the number of foreign visitors Lac people (in Chieng Chau commune) have taken to Hang Kia Commune, has been increasing gradually year by year. This finding revealed her an idea for developing her family economy. In 2008, she and her husband got a bank loan to investigate into tourism with their expectation of helping people in the commune against poverty, child marriage and drug abuse.

Y Mua and her husband built a two - floor house which is fully equipped as Y Mua homestay. On the first floor, they set up an airy dining room; meanwhile the second floor is the guest rooms well decorated with clean and polite interior equipment. At every floor, there is a wood fireplace which makes the room warmer in winter.

Y Mua not only improved her English skills by herself in order to communicate well with foreigners but also learnt how to broadcast her homestay via the Internet, therefore, the number of foreigners visiting Y Mua homestay has increased sharply. Every day, she spends her time on checking and preparing the food, the blankets and talking with her guests. Once there were some Muslim guests coming here in their diet month, she and her staff had to prepare and make food at the whole midnight to serve them before the dawn. Therefore, the guests are really satisfactory with the best services here. In 2016, Y Mua Homestay had 786 visitors. By July 2017, it has greeted 1,058 visitors, including 50% foreigners and it has been fully booked to the end of this year. The revenue of the homestay has not been high but still enough for her family expenditure and salary for nearly 10 people in the commune. Their salary is now steady between 170.000 - 200.000 VND/ person/ day.

Y Mua Homestay is currently offering two kinds of tourism: discovery and experience tourism. With discovery itinerary, tourists will go trekking to Thung Mai and visit Buoc Village (Xam Khoe commune), which is at the altitude of 1,500 m above sea level, admire the beautifully wild and majestic mountains. With experience itinerary, visitors can learn how to make Do paper, dye indigo clothing, learn the lifestyle of the Mong ethnics, go sightseeing beautiful places around the commune. Being aware that the strength of Hang Kia tourism is the traditional culture kept by local people, Y Mua, together with other people, tries to conserve the beautiful spots of the Mong community.

As a Mong person, Y Mua understands the fact that nearly 70% of H’Mong women in Hang Kia Commune do not speak Vietnamese and their understanding of social life is very limited. Therefore, she decided to invest in tourism and look forward to developing Hang Kia tourism so that the local people can exchange with other cultures to raise their understanding. Her Homestay has created stable jobs for dozens of workers, and has promoted the beauty of her homeland with Vietnamese and international tourists.

When being asked about her future plans, Y Mua said: "In 2018, I will invest in building a traditional house for the Mong so that visitors can choose more to experience. I will also make a campaign to remove some old depraved customs and preserve losing cultural beauties such as old house, the special food, folk activities, brocade village, honey wax drawing, etc. These will make visitors coming to Hang Kia feel the differences, attract them to come back and welcome new tourists.”/.
