Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Toan presents flowers to congratulate the success of the congress.

In the previous term from 2015 to 2019 and 2022, the provincial Tourism Association actively mobilised members and businesses to make efforts to exploit the province’s potential and advantages to build attractive tourism products and improve service quality to attract more visitors.

According to data from the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in the 2015 – 2019 period, the target groups of the Tourism Development Programme all overfulfilled the targets. In 2022, after the COVID-19 pandemic was put under control, the number of tourists increased again. The province welcomed 3 million visitors last year and earned 3.1 trillion VND (132 million USD), equal to 203% and 204.9% of those of the previous year, and 116.3% and 129.3% of the yearly plans, respectively.

The congress set out directions and goals for the 2023-2028 term, with focus on improving the operational capacity of the association's Executive Board, mobilising resources to build a financial fund to ensure the operation and sustainable development of the association, stepping up tourism and investment promotion in various forms, and improving the quality of services.

Addressing the congress, Toan took note of and praised the achievements of the provincial Tourism Association in the last term. He asked the association to coordinate with relevant departments and agencies in developing the market and promoting tourism; focus resources on building new, unique and attractive products to meet the increasing demand of tourists; improve the quality of human resources; promote digital transformation and the application of technologies in business management and administration; and further increase the effectiveness of the Smart Tourism Portal.

The congress elected and debuted the association’s new Executive Board with 28 members. Ha Van Thang, Chairman of March 26 joint Stock Company, was elected as Chairman of the association.

On this occasion, the Vietnam Tourism Association awarded certificates of merit to eight collectives and 15 individuals with outstanding achievements in tourism service business and contributions to the development of the business community, and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism also presented certificates of merit to three collectives and five individuals with excellent achievements in tourism business in the 2015-2023 period.
