(HBO) – The steering committee for COVID-19 prevention and control of Hoa Binh province held a teleconference on March 26 to discuss anti-coronavirus measures in the new context.

Bui Van Khanh, Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee and head of the Hoa Binh steering committee for the work, speaks at the meeting.

At the event, representatives of the provincial Health Department and the steering committee reported on the COVID-19 situation in Vietnam and Hoa Binh province. As of 1pm of March 26, the province hadn’t recorded any positive cases. However, some suspected cases have been quarantined and had samples taken for testing.

Recently, the steering committee has organised two inspection rounds to check the anti-COVID-19 work in 10 district-level localities across Hoa Binh. The province has arranged concentrated quarantine sites and received people subject to quarantine in line with regulations. It has sent 106 people who finished quarantine at the province’s military school back to their localities, and received another 80 for quarantine.

Plans for the level-2 and -3 disease prevention and control have been built and carried out. Besides, authorities have provided guidance on making health declaration; activated the epidemic monitoring system; ensured the supply of medical equipment, medicines and materials for anti-coronavirus units; and stepped up communication activities in various forms to raise public awareness of the disease and preventive measures.

Addressing the meeting, Bui Van Khanh, Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee and head of the steering committee, said the COVID-19 prevention and control in Hoa Binh has already been at the third level.

He requested the whole political system and members of the steering committee to focus on directing the work from the provincial to grassroots levels. Relevant agencies need to keep a close watch on those returning from virus-hit countries and regions, list those subject to quarantine and take samples for testing.

They were also asked to push ahead with patient examination, quarantine and treatment, as well as cross-infection control. Meanwhile, multimedia communications should be boosted so that people have precise knowledge of the disease, take preventive measures, and avoid anxiety about or negligence on the epidemic.

The official also demanded unnecessary cultural and sport services be suspended, adding that Hoa Binh must always stay ready in the COVID-19 fight.

At the teleconference, the chairman of the provincial People’s Committee also called on local agencies, businesses, organisations and individuals to make financial contributions to anti-coronavirus efforts./.
