(HBO) - Many large commodity production areas, especially cultivation areas of citrus fruit trees and purple sugarcane using tissue culture method have been formed in Cao Phong district. Following the momentum, the local agricultural sector continues to develop in the direction of increasing the value of products.
Ha Phong Cooperative (Cao Phong district)
prepares to raise the quality of its OCOP products to provincial five-star standards.
The district’s agriculture sector has made a turning point in
restructuring crops associated with cultivation following VietGAP standard.
Compared to 2015, the district's area of citrus fruit trees has expanded by
1.77 times, with the 2019-2020 crop’s output reaching over 36,000 tonnes, up 1.8 times, surpassing the target set in the
district Party congress’ resolution by 14,000 tonnes.
The district has 2,703.2 ha of sugarcane, fulfilling 108 percent of
target, with 81.34 hectares of sugarcane planted using the tissue culture
method. Besides, 1,458.9 ha of mixed gardens were improved.
The district’s livestock industry has developed stably, with a number of
projects on breeding and fattening buffaloes put into operation, initially
contributing to increasing the proportion of animal husbandry in the local
economy.
The district maintains nearly 13 hectares of water surface for aquaculture with
638 fish cages.
The agricultural economy has made important contributions to improving the
people's living standard and ensuring social security.
The district has so far had four communes meeting standardsofnew-style
rural areas, and seven
meeting standards for model new-style rural residential areas. The Dung Phong commune was recognised as an advanced new-style rural
area. On average, each
commune has completed 15.5 criteria of new-styled rural areas.
Cao Phong aims to maintain 2,600
hectares of citrus fruit trees, protect and develop the Cao Phong orange brand,
and have 1,500 hectares of citrus fruit trees cultivated according to VietGAP
standards.
It will focus on improving the quality, added value, market access for products,
and encourage enterprises to invest in developing cultivation zones of citrus fruit
trees under the model of large field.
The district will also maintain 2,500 ha of existing sugarcane area, expand the
model of purple sugarcane planting using the tissue culture method, and
proactively produce new sugarcane varieties to replace the old purple sugarcane
varieties.
Attention will also be paid to developing the cultivation of safe vegetables
and food crops, and forming production and consumption link chains for export.
For the husbandry sector, the district
will concentrate on improving the quality of breeds, strictly applying the
biosafety raising processes, ensuring environmental sanitation, participating
in chains of production,
slaughtering, processing and distribution.
Regarding aquaculture, Cao Phong aims to have 765 fish cages by 2025, with 500 of
which following the VietGAP production standard./.
