The model of family farm in Khao village, Tan My commune of Lac Son district, makes the new-style rural picture of the Muong Khoi former war zone brighter.
Khao village head Vu Dinh Khac proudly spoke of the positive changes in his hometown. like locals in other residential areas, Khao villagers have actively united to build a model residential area, contributing to the achievements in new-style rural area building of the locality, he said.

Many households have managed to build big houses, buy cars, motorbikes and valuable household appliances, while supporting other families in economic development and creating jobs for local labourers.
Khao is the first village of the commune to implement the model of 1-hectare farm, which has proved its efficiency.
Tan My is among the bright spots in farming structure transformation of Lac Son district. With their sensitiveness and dynamism, locals have created commercial production regions yielding high income, including the green squash, jicama planting region in Nai, Nac and Troi villages.

In some villages, the movement of upgrading the family farm with various plants has been promoted, replacing the ineffective plants with others producing higher economic efficiency such as orange, pomelo and jack fruit. So far, the area under orange and pomelo has been expanded to more than 51 hectares.
Along with agricultural production, service and handicraft sectors have also been developed, contributing to creating jobs for hundreds of labourers with one cooperative, 61 business households, four production service groups and three businesses.
