Last year, the complicated development of the COVID-19 pandemic significantly affected people's lives, and also put pressure on the health system in the province. However, with the sector's efforts, the pandemic was basically controlled, and health examination, treatment, and pandemic prevention activities as well as the national target programme on health were timely implemented.

The medical examination and treatment for people was well organised while measures were adopted to prevent common and high-risk infectious diseases.

In particular, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the health sector advised the provincial People's Committee on directives and professional guidance on COVID-19 prevention, while undertaking appropriate prevention measures, quickly tracing close contacts of infection cases and conducting screening tests for high-risk people. The COVID-19 vaccination campaign was also urgently deployed with safety and effectiveness ensured.

Participants at the conference discussed the difficulties and shortcomings in the operation of the sector and agreed on the key tasks and solutions for 2022.

Addressing the conference, the Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee highly appreciated the efforts of the health sector in the past year, especially in the fight against COVID-19.

He agreed with the targets and solutions set by the sector, and suggested the sector continue to classify and manage COVID-19 patients, especially those in high-risk groups, and accelerate immunisation work to ensure that all persons from 12 years old and above are vaccinated against COVID-19.

Toan also instructed the health sector to roll out epidemic prevention plans to ensure people’s safety and health during the 2022 Lunar New Year holiday. /.
