(HBO) - Over the past years, ethnic groups in Hoa Binh province have constantly united and contributed to the province’s socio-economic development which changed its rural areas' look and consolidated the great national solidarity.

As a mountainous province that is home to the ethnic groups, Hoa Binh province has prioritised investment for comprehensive socio-economic development and promoted the role of ethnic groups. They are also strategic solutions to successfully implement the Resolution of the Party Congresses at all levels for the 2020-2025 term.

Implementing the direction of the provincial Party Committee, based on the guidance from ministries and agencies, the Party Committees and agencies at all levels in the mountainous areas and areas with ethnic groups in the province have actively renewed emulation movements. 

The movements closely followed political tasks associated with the implementation of Directive No.05 of the Politburo on promoting learning and following President Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality, and lifestyle.

Noteworthy movements include "Good labour, creative labour", "joining hands to build new-style rural areas", and "For the poor - no one is left behind".

The province now has 586 enterprises, cooperatives, production establishments, and business households managed by people from ethnic groups. Despite difficulties, they have become a bridge bringing products to the market, improving the value of agricultural products, creating jobs for workers in ethnic minority areas.

Outstanding models include the one by Trinh Thi Thanh Hoa from Tay ethnic group in the Da Bac district in growing edible mushrooms, medicinal mushrooms, and canned sweet corn.

 

The Women's Union of Ram hamlet, My Thanh commune in Lac Son district developed a model of beekeeping with 50 honey beehives, annually collecting about 500 litres of honey, worth 96 million VND (4,000 USD).

In the past years, the province paid much attention to education for ethnic groups. Boarding/semi-boarding schools were expanded and upgraded. Many collectives and individuals have made important contributions to improving the people's knowledge and developing human resources for the province.

 

Currently, the province has 14,986 State employees and a high-quality working hands coming from ethnic groups.

People from ethnic groups in Hoa Binh province have had basic access to healthcare services, particularly in the past two years, health workers from ethnic groups volunteered to support their colleagues in southern provinces and cities during the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the culture sector, ethnic groups play important role in preserving traditional cultural values. By now, the province has 18 recognised as excellent artisans.

The province has 1,482 musical teams with tens of thousands of amateur actors and artists who are the core factor in cultural preservation.

In social security and defense, village elders, village chiefs, and reputable people in the community have played the role of extending arms to mobilise people following the Party and State's guidelines, policies, and laws, maintaining social security and order at the grassroots.

The province has over 9,000 village heads and key officials at the grassroots level, of which nearly 7,000 people are from ethnic groups. Over 95% of them can use the languages of ethnic groups.

In 2023, the Provincial People's Committee issued the socio-economic development programme in areas with ethnic groups and mountainous areas with 10 projects, 14 sub-projects, and 36 investment contents integrated from ethnic policies.

 

With the achievements, traditional patriotism, solidarity, and efforts to overcome difficulties, we believe that the ethnic groups in the province will continue to strive and promote their self-reliance, and unity to successfully implement the Resolution of the Party Congresses at all levels, the socio-economic development plans, the national programmes for socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas in the 2021-2025 period./.

Focusing resources on building new rural areas

This year, Hoa Binh province strives to have eight communes recognised as meeting new-style rural area standards and five communes satisfying exemplary new-style rural area standards. Since the beginning of the year, the provincial People's Committee has drastically directed the implementation of the national target programme on new-style rural area building to fulfil the set target.

Cao Phong district achieves positive socio-economic development results

Cao Phong district achieved positive socio-economic development results last year as drastic comprehensive measures were implemented with high determination of its whole political system, said the Secretary of the district Party Committee Ha Van Di.
