An award ceremony to announce the official certification for Mai Chau district’s Bangana lemassoni fish, a specialty of the locality because of its unique flavour, was held recently in the district.

The event was attended by representatives from the Department of Science and Technology, Mai Chau district leaders, officials from five local communes, namely Van Mai, Mai Hich, Mai Ha, Chieng Chau, and Son Thuy, and 30 certified fish-farming households.

Under Decision No. 3038/QD-UBND by the Mai Chau People’s Committee approving the project to establish, manage, and develop the fish’s brand, the provincial Science and Technology Information Application Centre collaborated with Mai Chau district authorities, commune committees, and local fish farmers.

Together, they conducted an investigation to assess the origin, production scale, and quality attributes of the fish brand, including its biological characteristics, meat quality, and nutritional value.

This work was essential for registering the certification mark, establishing trademark rights, creating product branding, and building promotion strategies to support the fish brand in the marketplace.

As a result, the centre successfully completed the process of creating, managing, and developing the certification mark for the fish brand.

At the ceremony, representatives from the Department of Science and Technology officially awarded the certification to Mai Chau district, while the district leadership presented certificates of brand usage rights to 30 local households involved in the fish farming, production, and business operations within the designated areas.
