Bamboo and Rattan Cooperative of Nhan Nghia Commune (Lac Son) contributes to creating jobs for many women in the commune and the surrounding areas.

Ms. Bui Thi Sanh, Chairman of the Cooperative excitedly said: In the beginning of the year, the cooperative received orders for more than 20 rattan trays for a famous tourist destination in Hoa Binh. Officially founded in 2011, initially, the model of Ms Sanh was a co-operative production and mainly hand-woven some rattan such as rattan trays and rattan boxes. However, from 2017, with the support of Lac Son Women's Union, it is upgraded from cooperative group to Co-operative, they have taken into account the finished product lines and directed to products with high artistic value. Sharing about this issue, Ms. Sanh said: The establishment of production cooperatives helps us a lot, women members are trained about knowledge and skills to improve their technical skills. The board is supported about management, financial management skills, especially, we can have an access to bigger capital, and we are linked to find the output for the products.

At present, the Cooperative attracts more than 500 members in the commune and many women in surrounding communes. With an average income of 70,000 - 100,000 VND a day, handmade rattan handicrafts have helped many households gradually stabilize their life. Ms. Quach Thi Lan, Chairwoman of Nhan Nghia Women's Union, said: "The advantage of this job is that we can take advantage of our work at anytime, anywhere and easily taught. The most important thing is the stable income; the income of a skilled person can reach from 2-3 million per month. If the whole family together knit together, with other income such as livestock, farming, the economy is also improved significantly.

From the initial success of the Cooperative, the People's Committee of Lac Son District has recently had a project to build a traditional bamboo and rattan handicraft village in Nhan Nghia commune.
