The provincial People's Committee has issued Plan No. 03/KH-UBND for the construction of two snake mascots to welcome the Year of the Snake 2025.
The mascots are expected to create a joyful atmosphere, attract visitors to Hoa Binh city and Hoa Binh province on the occasion of the Lunar New Year holiday, and showcase the province’s significant socio-economic achievements in 2024.
With the theme "Hoa Binh - Steadfastly Moving Forward", the mascot design is inspired by images of workers at the Hoa Binh hydropower plant who perform the mission of continuing the glorious history of past generations of officials, soldiers, experts, and workers in service of the nation’s electricity.
The mascots will be prominently displayed against a backdrop of the Hoa Binh province logo, standing 6.5 metres tall at the centre, with a depiction of the Hoa Binh dam below it, illustrated vividly with a steam effect.
The bodies of the two snake mascots symbolise a future electrical cable system and the mission to moving fowards. They convey meanings of good luck, positive energy and adaptation to all circumstances while reflecting the Hoa Binh youth's aspiration to seize opportunities and overcome challenges to build a prosperous Hoa Binh province, contributing to the development of the nation in a new era.
They will have an average height of 5 metres, with lighting effects. Entrance will be an impressive stylised lotus flower gate flanked by two lines of peach trees and cheerful child characters dressed in traditional costumes of ethnic groups in Hoa Binh province.
The construction of the mascots was planned to take place from January 9 to 22. They will be displayed from January 22 to February 12, 2025 at Hoa Binh Square.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha on January 7 signed Decision No. 48/QD-TTg recognising Hoa Binh city as a Tier-2 urban area in Hoa Binh province.
Hoa Binh has made significant strides in digital transformation across sectors, achieving substantial administrative reforms and improving public services.
Kim Boi - a revolutionary homeland, rich in cultural identity, is "awakening” with great opportunities to become a tourism center, an ecological urban area of the province and the region.
Luong Son district is set to become a township in the near future due to its huge potential and unique advantages compared to other localities. The district has truly transformed itself, with its infrastructure steadily improving.
In 2024, amid significant global and regional fluctuations, Vietnam's economy entered a phase of recovery and growth, albeit with persistent challenges. However, through determination and decisive actions, Hoa Binh province achieved remarkable progress across all sectors. The province met all 19 socio-economic development targets, recorded its highest state budget revenue in five years, launched several key projects, and enhanced its investment climate.
Hoa Binh city is gathering feedback from ministries and sectors regarding its proposal for tier-2 urban status. After years of development from its tier-3 foundation, the city is awaiting inclusion in the country’s list of more than 30 tier-2 urban centres.
