(HBO) – The People’s Committee of Luong Son district, in collaboration with the provincial Department of Education and Training, launched a spring tree-planting festival at the ethnic minority boarding school in the district on February 3. The event was attended by Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Ngo Van Tuan.

At the launching ceremony, a leader of the district People’s Committee
highlighted the significance of the spring tree-planting festival, and asked
organisations and agencies in the district to promote communication work so as
to encourage local people to engage in tree planting.
With a view to maintaining the rate of forest coverage at more than 42 percent
in 2020, and building Luong Son district into a new-style rural area, communes,
town, organisations and schools in the locality have channeled focus on
developing areas of trees with high economic values.
Right at the launch ceremony of the tree-planting festival, nearly 200 kinds of
trees were grown at the ethnic minority boarding school.
On the occasion, Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Ngo Van Tuan presented
20 gifts worth 20 million VND (859 USD) to 20 students who live in difficult
circumstances and have excellent academic performance at the school./.
