(HBO) - Developing Luong Son township and its expanded area into a tier-IV urban area is a major policy of Hoa Binh province. To that end, on May 11, 2012, the provincial Party Committee issued Resolution No.06 on mobilising resources to turn Luong Son district’s central area into a tier-IV urban area towards the early establishment of Luong Son town.

Following the resolution, the district has
coordinated with departments and sectors to make detail plans and programmes,
which focus on measures to increase the quality of planning, intensify State
management efficiency, attract and effectively use resources to invest in
infrastructure.
Attention has been paid to the planning and
development of residential areas, particularly a five-hectare commercial centre
and housing project of Dong Duong joint Stock Company, a 10-hectare commercial
residential area and central market project of Queensland Limited Company. The
economic structure has been shifted to industry and services. Therefore, the
labour structure has been shifted from the agricultural sector to the
non-agricultural sector.
In addition, to speed up the completion of
tier-IV urban criteria, since 2012, the district has integrated an emulation
movement to complete the criteria in other campaigns such as "Luong Son
district joining hands in new-style rural building”.
On November 11, 2019, a State-level
assessment council chaired by the Construction Ministry met to consider the
performance of Luong Son township and its expanded area towards tier-IV urban
criteria. The council gave Luong Son 84 out of 100 points, therefore, the
Minister of Construct signed a decision recognising that Luong Son township and
its expanded area had met tier-IV urban criteria. According to the planning,
the tier-IV urban Luong Son will have a total area of 112.75sq.m and a
population of 51,838. The urban area, including Luong Son township and Hoa Son
and Nhuan Trach communes, has an area of 43.98sq.km and a population of 38,738.
The suburban area, including Lam Son, Tan Vinh and Cu Yen communes, has an area
of 68.77sq.km and a population of 13,100.
That Luong Son township and its expanded
area meet tier-IV urban criteria is expected to open up opportunities for the central
area of the district to develop more rapidly and comprehensively./.
Over recent times, the implementation of the single-window mechanism for administrative procedure settlement in electronic environments at various units and localities has seen positive changes.
In Pa Co commune of Mai Chau district, apart from 82ha of 'shan tuyet' teas grown several decades ago, there are also ancient plants aged more than 100 years, mostly in Pa Hang Lon and Pa Co hamlets. The local tea with its distinctive flavour has become a consumer preference. Besides, the ancient plants are also favourite check-in places of tourists at present.
A working team from the Hoa Binh Party Committee led by Nguyen Phi Long, alternate member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, inspected the preservation and promotion of the cultural values of the Muong culture and the making of planning for a reservation space for the Muong culture in Phong Phu commune of Tan Lac district on March 6.

The provincial People’s Committee has worked to accelerate the construction of the Hoa Binh – Hanoi highway and the Hoa Binh – Moc Chau section of the Son La highway, which received in-principle approval from the provincial People’s Council in 2021.
The People’s Committee of Hoa Binh province, in collaboration with Military Region 3, held a ceremony in Yen Mong commune, Hoa Binh city, on February 19 to launch a tree planting festival on the occasion of the Lunar New Year of the Dragon, and in response to the Government’s programme of planting 1 billion trees for a green Vietnam.
