(HBO) - In 2022, the products of Yen Thuy salted salted allium schoenoprasum of Phu Lai Agricultural Cooperative (Yen Thuy) has met the provincial OCOP standards, the 3-star rank. Being awarded the OCOP star contributes to enhancing the value of traditional dishes of the homeland.


The products of Yen Thuy salted salted allium schoenoprasum are packaged in glass jars, which is convenient for consumers to choose as gifts. 

Salted allium schoenoprasum is a plant grown for a long time in Yen Thuy district, being used to make spices, to process dishes, and it has become a typical flavor in the family meal. Currently, salted allium schoenoprasum are most grown in Phu Lai commune with about 90 hectares, the average income is nearly 100 million VND/ha. From a spice plant, serving the daily meal, with the efforts of the local people salted allium schoenoprasum have become a commodity crop, contributing to the transformation of crop structure in agricultural production, bringing high income. On December 10, 2020, the National Office of Intellectual Property issued a certificate of trademark registration for th eproducts of Yen Thuy Salted allium schoenoprasum. 

According to research by scientists, salted allium schoenoprasum contains many sulfuric organic compounds such as allyle sulfures, alkyl sulfoxides, rich in vitamins A and C, and the mineral elements such as calcium and iron. According to the oriental medicine, salted allium schoenoprasum have a spicy taste, pungent smell, warm properties, having a warming effect on the spleen and stomach, relieving phlegm, reducing cough, making sweat, diuretic, antiseptic, detoxifying. Therefore, salted allium schoenoprasum is used in some remedies for colds, urinary retention, food poisoning, and whooping cough. Stemming from the use of salted allium schoenoprasum and the desire to develop and improve the value of salted allium schoenoprasum in the locality, Mr. Bui Van An, the Director of Phu Lai Agricultural Cooperative and the other cooperative members have made great efforts to learn and research and launched the products of Yen Thuy salted allium schoenoprasum to the market. The members of the cooperative have built a raw material area to grow salted allium schoenoprasum according to VietGAP standards, ensuring safety. 

Mr. Bui Van An says: To make the products of salted allium schoenoprasum is a whole process, from selecting round onions to cleaning, fermenting, and packaging the finished product before being put on the market. This way helps keep onions for a long time, it is crispy when eating, however it still retains the characteristic smell and precious medicinal essences in the onion. 

With a strict processing process, Phu Lai Agricultural Cooperative is certified as a facility that meets fthe ood safety and hygiene conditions. Products have a system of labels, codes, barcodes and traceability. Salted allium schoenoprasum does not contain preservatives, no substances harmful to the health of the user. Currently, the products of Yen Thuy salted allium schoenoprasum are mainly consumed in the central market, selling at 80,000 VND/box of 500g. 

The biggest wish of Mr. Bui Van An, the Director of Phu Lai Agricultural Cooperative is to expand the market for consuming the products of Yen Thuy salted allium schoenoprasum. According to Mr. An, the consumers in the northern market do not know about the product. Therefore, the cooperative wants all levels and sectors to support the cooperative to expand consumption channels such as putting products on the e-commerce platform, participating in trade promotion fairs, promoting products... 

Salted allium schoenoprasum is a healthy food, stimulating digestion. The plate of salted onions makes the rice tray more complete, stimulating the taste buds to make the meal more delicious. The products of salted allium schoenoprasum is present in daily meals to parties, feasts and the rice trays on Tet. This is a meaningful gift that Yen Thuy people give to friends and relatives.
