Sung A Denh, a prestigious man in Thung Man village, Hang Kia commune (Mai Chau), said: "With the position and responsibility of a village elder, the head of the family, and a reputable person, I have encouraged my family, children and grandchildren to strictly comply with the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's policies and laws. In the village, there are several households participating in illegal religions. I have encouraged them to comply well with the laws on belief and religion, and preserve the traditions of the Mong ethnic people.”
As a reputable person, respected by local people, Ban Van Than in Duong village, Vay Nua commune (Da Bac), and other reputable people in ethnic minority groups have persuaded descendants in the family and people in the hamlet to voluntarily surrender their weapons to the commune police. Along with the involvement of the local Party committee and authorities, and Than's dissemination and advocacy efforts, for many years in Vay Nua commune, no Dao people have been involved in social evils; and law violations are prevented and solved right at the grassroots.
For the police force, promoting the role and responsibility of prestigious people, village elders, and village heads in ethnic minority areas is extremely necessary. Lieutenant Colonel Ha Van Minh, Head of the Security Team, Mai Chau district Police, said that reputable people have promoted their role, position, and influence on the community, helping the police force closely follow the grassroots, as well as the security and order situation in the area, especially in remote villages. They also actively coordinate with Party Committees, local authorities and the armed forces to grasp the situation, and encourage people to comply with the Party's guidelines and policies and the State’s laws, participate in the work of ensuring social security and order, and unite to help each other get rid of poverty and develop local socio-economic development.
Over the past five years (2018 - 2023), reputable people in the province have provided nearly 1,000 information pieces related to security and order, thereby contributing to stabilising 231 complex cases related to rural security and social security and order at the grassroots level.
