The family of Mr. Pham Dinh Chien, Tan Huong
village, Thanh Hoi commune (Tan Lac) checked the quality of grapefruits for
selling to customers.
. Mr. Duong Tat Tinh, one of the households
with stable income of hundreds of millions VND per year, said that: the area of
the grapefruit growing of the village was stable at 40 hectares, 10 hectares of
which are in harvested time. This year, the productivity and appearance of
grapefruits are generally lower than that of the last years, but in comparison
with other provinces, Tan Huong is still having a productive crop.
Tan Huong red grapefruit Cooperative Group
mobilizes people to follow the safe grapefruit production process. The
Cooperative Group has 16 members, growing 16 hectares of grapefruit, due to
proper care and VietGap technical standards, although the productivity is worse
than every year but the appearance and quality of grapefruits are guaranteed.
Tan Huong grapefruit has thin-leaf casings, waterful, sweet, fragrant, is
favored by customers. Many families did not have proper care procedures,
grapefruit would be affected by mites, pus, the fruit is greasy and in poor
quality. This time is the early harvest, the main harvest is from November to
near the Lunar New Year. The productivity is worse than last year, but with a
stable price of 25,000 - 30,000 VND / a fruit, grapefruits are still the plant
of wealth for Tan Huong people.
Mr. Pham Dinh Chien's family, in Tan Huong
village, has been planting grapefruits for about ten years with about 100 red
grapefruit trees. Mr. Chien said: This year, there has been much heavy rain,
the production is very difficult. My grapefruit garden is more abundant than
many families’ in the village. My family can earn from the grapefruit garden
this year, the early selling price is about 25,000 VND / a fruit. Last year,
many trees gave up to 400 grapefruits, collected 280 million VND, this year,
the yield of the garden reduced to half compared with a year ago. His family’s
grapefruit is mainly sold to relatives and friends.
The Chairman of Thanh Hoi Commune People’s
Committee Mr. Bui Van Phon said: The whole commune has about 300 hectares of
growing grapefruits, nearly one third of which can be harvested. Grapefruit is
the main crop of Thanh Hoi, a high income crop for farmers. The grapefruit
growers basically have quite good living conditions. The average income per
head of the commune was 37.6 million VND; the poverty rate was only 9.6%
(2017).
