(HBO) - The northwestern mountainous province of Hoa Binh harvested rice on 1,374 out of its 16,012 ha, accounting for 8.7 percent of the total area under the crop.
Localities with early harvest include Luong
Son (452 ha), Lac Thuy (399 ha), Yen Thuy (163 ha), Ky Son (150 ha), Hoa Binh
city (180 ha), Lac Son (20 ha), and Kim Boi (10 ha).
In addition to that, rice of the main and
late harvest is ripening. Districts that have yet to enter harvest time are Da
Bac, Mai Chau, Cao Phong, and Tan Lac. Local farmers are actively applying
measures against pests and epidemics.
Productivity of the spring crop is
projected to reach 5.7 tonnes per ha, 3-5 percent lower than that of the
previous year, yielding more than 91,000 tonnes.
The provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development on November 20 coordinated with Hai Dang Group Hoa Binh Seafood Company Limited to release 1.5 tonnes of fries into Hoa Binh Lake to regenerate aquatic resources, with a total value of 266 million VND (10,460 USD).
On the afternoon of November 16, Nguyen Phi Long, alternate member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, held a reception for a delegation from the Indian Embassy led by Ambassador Sandeep Arya. From a type of bulb used as a seasoning for daily meals, thanks to the efforts of local authorities and farmers, shallots have become a commercial crop in Yen Thuy district, contributing to promoting the transformation of crop structure in agricultural production, bringing higher incomes to locals.
