(HBO) – The People’s Committee of Da Bac district in the northern mountainous province of Hoa Binh held an investment promotion conference on November 27 to popularise local tourism and agricultural development potential.

Officials present at the event included Bui Van Tinh, member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Hoa Binh provincial Party Committee; and Bui Van Khanh, Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee.

Provincial leaders and officials of Da Bac district witness the signing of memoranda of understanding on investment cooperation between the district People’s Committee and businesses.

According to a plan on developing the Hoa Binh Lake national tourism site, Da Bac will become the key area of this site with typical tourism products like community-based and hi-end resort tourism.

Over the past years, the district has developed four community-based tourism areas in Ke hamlet of Hien Luong commune, Da Bia and Mo Hem hamlets of Tien Phong commune, and Sung hamlet of Cao Son commune. It welcomes more than 90,000 visitors each year on average.

With the resolve to turn tourism into a spearhead economic sector, Da Bac has continually encouraged investment in tourism, prioritised building tourism infrastructure and products and connecting tourism tours, and ensured site clearance and social order and safety for projects in this field.

Besides, it is also home to more than 68,000ha of agricultural land and 6,000ha of lake surface, which promise great potential for agricultural development. Surveys show that Da Bac has 15 locations suitable for investment in agriculture, tourism and forestry.

Local officials said the district always welcomes investors and wishes to boost hi-tech agriculture and agricultural product – food processing. It pledges to prioritise projects that develop tourism infrastructure and services, and those applying high and environmentally friendly technology in agriculture, forestry and aquaculture. It will also create the best possible conditions for investors to survey and select investment fields, and coordinate with relevant departments and sectors to handle investment procedures.

Addressing the event, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Bui Van Tinh introduced the potential and advantages of Hoa Binh, noting that many major businesses have been coming to the province to seek investment chances. He affirmed the provincial authorities’ commitment to improving the investment and business climate.

The inclusion of Da Bac in the plan on developing the Hoa Binh Lake national tourism site has created favourable conditions for the district to develop resort and ecological tourism, along with water sports and entertainment complexes. On May 17, the Prime Minister also approved in principle a project to build an expressway linking Hoa Binh with Moc Chau district of neighbouring Son La province.

With these advantages, the official asked Da Bac to press on with improving the investment and business climate and join hands with enterprises to soon turn itself into a popular tourist magnet.

At the conference, the Da Bac district People’s Committee signed memoranda of understanding on investment partnership worth about 2 trillion VND (86.17 million USD) with eight businesses./.
