After many years working as a helmsman on boats serving tours on Da River, Ngo Van Trinh – director of Thai Thinh tourism transport cooperatives - realized that when operating separately, local business households in the area lost many customers. Thus in 2004, Trinh persuaded other households engaging in transport business to come together and create the Thai Thinh tourism transport cooperative. At present, the cooperative has 37 active members with 40 boats ready for tourism activities. All the boats are registered and inspected by the provincial Department of Transport, the provincial police. The cooperative also has strict rules on the number of passengers allowed on each boat during a trip.

Ha Van The, a member of Thai Thinh tourism transport cooperative, said he has joined the cooperative for 7 years. His family has a boat with a capacity of 30 people. He even hires a cook to work on the boat to serve visitors traditional dishes of Hoa Binh to attract more customers.

Pham Mai Anh, a tourist from Hai Ba Trung district, Hanoi, said she learnt from the service of Thai Thinh tourism transport cooperative through a friend in 2016. Since then, she has booked a boat of the cooperative every year for her company to visit the Bo temple in the Hoa Binh lake. Anh explained that the cooperative's staff members are very friendly and supportive, and the boats are fully equipped with fire extinguishers, life-jackets, warning lights, to ensure the safety of passengers./.
