(HBO) – To boost consumption of farm produce amid complicated developments of COVID-19, all levels, sectors, and localities of Hoa Binh province have rolled out various measures to ensure lives of farmers and production households.

Chairwoman of the Board of Directors and Director of Cao Phong farm produce 3T cooperative Vu Thi Le Thuy said to meet customers’ demand for safe agricultural products, the cooperative has applied advanced ozone disinfection technology to process fresh orange, improve packaging, and bolster linkage with sale channels in the province and other localities so as to sold the product in its prime time.

Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Cao Phong district Bui Hoai Nhi said since the start of 2020, after waves of the COVID-19 outbreaks, the district has devised effective measures in the new context in tandem with characteristics of the local agricultural sector, home to a large area of citrus trees.

Through trade promotions, the consumption of orange was more smooth-sailing and stable than the previous year. Of note, that the citrus fruit was offered on e-commerce platform bolstered its sales, with 22.5 tonnes of Cao Phong orange being sold online.

Farmer organisations of all levels assisted members with farm produce sales, getting accustomed to online marketing and sales amid the spread of the pandemic, and creating a network of points of farm produce sale in the province and other localities.

The organisations sold in excess of 120 tonnes of vegetables and dozens of tonnes of Cao Phong organic orange, and helped build four safe farm produce stores in the province’s districts and city.

The provincial People’s Committee issued a Decision approving a plan on the sales of staples against the backdrop of COVID-19, and asked the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to work with localities to build specific plans for each product and crop.

In the first 11 months of this year, more than 100 tonnes of vegetables and 60,000 eggs were sold on e-commerce marketplace.

Exports also witnessed positive growth. In addition to traditional agro-products for exports, Hoa Binh has stepped up shipments of items which receive codes of cultivation zones and packaging sites.

To date, 14 planting areas growing 200 ha of banana, dragon fruit, longan, Dien pomelo; along with seven packaging site, have obtained the codes.

Until the traditional Lunar New Year (Tet) festival, over 2,000 tonnes of banana will be suitable for harvest. Nearly half of the amount will be shipped abroad alongside other items of tea, vegetables, pickles, bamboo shoot, vermicelli and sugar cane, and more.
