(HBO) – To continue developing agriculture on par with local potential and advantages, promote farm produce brands, and generate higher income for farmers and businesses, the agricultural sector of Hoa Binh is actively working with all-level authorities and sectors to form sustainable material production zones, thus opening up new chances for the export of the province’s strong agricultural products.

The Pacific Co. Ltd, which specialises in farm produce production and export to Japan, has created stable jobs for many local people.

Thanks to the efforts by the entire political system, especially agricultural authorities, farmers, businesses and cooperatives, despite impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, the growth of agricultural export value in 2021 was still equivalent to or higher than that in previous years, helping increase the entire sector’s production value. The agro-forestry-fishery production value was estimated at 20.52 trillion VND (881.2 million USD), up 1.9% year on year, while the whole sector’s production value reached 11.97 trillion VND. The production value per hectare has surpassed 128 million VND per year.

Localities in the province have gradually formed cash crop production zones and supply chains that meet VietGAP and food safety standards to serve the processing industry. More importantly, crop restructuring has helped farmers access modern and climate adaptive cultivation methods and improved their awareness so as to promote hi-tech agricultural production aligned with the market’s demand.

However, apart from new opportunities for agricultural export, the local sector is still facing numerous challenges.

For the 2020 - 2025 period, the provincial Party Committee targets fast, sustainable, and green economic development based on four pillars, of which agriculture is identified as the foundation for Hoa Binh to capitalise on local potential and advantages to supply food to localities nationwide, especially those in the Capital Region, and promote export.

To achieve the set targets, many measures have been being implemented, including forming concentrated material zones that meet standards to serve agricultural processing and export.

To develop material zones, he recommended businesses review all steps of production, assign personnel to connect with specialised agencies to survey production zones and supply chains, pay due attention to food safety, and form close partnerships with cooperatives./.
