(HBO) – The northern mountainous province of Hoa Binh exported its first batch of more than 17 tonnes of fresh sugarcane to the US- the world most demanding market in late March this year, raising a high hope for a flourish prospect for the sector in penetrating to more foreign markets in the time ahead.

Recognising the potential of the plant, since 2021 the company has sought ways to expand sugarcane products. Notably, the company exported 10 tonnes of the juice to Germany in the same year. Following initial success, the company shipped nearly 100 tonnes of sugarcane to the EU and the Republic of Korea (RoK) in 2022. It expects to export between 300 and 500 tonnes of fresh sugarcane this year.

Nguyen Le Diep, Director of Tien Ngan Trade and Investment Company, said in order to export more sugarcane products in the coming time, the company is studying to diversify exports to foreign markets.
Nguyen Hong Yen, Director off the sub-department of cultivation and plant protection, said since 2019, the province’s sugarcane products have started to gain popularity in many regions nationwide as well as international markets such as Japan, the RoK, the EU and UK.

The increasing orders over years has proved quality, food safety control, plant quarantine, preliminary processing, packaging and preservation of the product. The province's sugarcane products have reached and established a strong foothold in fastidious markets, especially in the context that each market applies its own regulations in processing, packaging, and labeling specification, among others, he noted./.
