(HBO) - Realizing that peanuts have a lot of potential and advantages to develop on the land in Yen Thuy, Mr. Dinh Duc Chien from Lac Vuong neighborhood, Hang Tram town has chosen to start a business by successfully building the brand of Yen Thuy peanut oil. The product that meets the provincial 4-star OCOP standard in 2020 have contributed to helping the farmers get rid of the situation of "having good crop, losing the value”.


The product from peanut oil of Yen Thuy Safe Agricultural Cooperative has met the 4-star OCOP standard, contributing to improving the value of peanuts for Yen Thuy farmers.

In 2017, after nearly 10 years of working as a worker at Dung Quat oil refinery (Quang Ngai), Mr. Dinh Duc Chien decided to quit his job and return to his hometown to start a business, establishing Nhan Xuan oil pressing facility. "As a son born in Yen Thuy land, where over 2,000 hectares of peanuts are planted every year. However, with the price being pressured by the traders and the fall in prices, I decided to quit my job to go back to my hometown to start a business from peanuts with the desire to help the local people develop economy,” said Mr. Chien.

To expand and develop the model, in 2019, he decided to establish Yen Thuy safe agricultural cooperative with 12 members, the initial capital was nearly 1.4 billion VND. The cooperative is led by Mr. Chien who is both the Chairman of the Board of Directors and the Director of the cooperative, and is in charge of management and administration.

Yen Thuy safe agricultural cooperative specializes in planting peanuts, sesame, oil crops; planting pomelos and citrus fruit trees; growing vegetables of all kinds, medicinal plants; vegetable oil pressing and agricultural product processing; farming service activities; post-harvest service; trading fertilizers, pesticides and other chemicals used in agriculture; whole-selling and retailing the vegetable oils and agricultural products produced by the cooperative...

With the cooperative's peanut oil production process, there are 5 stages: seed separating, preliminary processing, oil pressing, oil refining and storage of bottled samples. By-products such as peanut shells and residues are used as the animal feed and organic fertilizer. Initially, due to the lack of experience, the lack of capital, how to manage and operate machinery, he encountered many difficulties. However, with the advantage of having a headquarters and factory in an area with the abundant raw materials for oilseeds such as peanuts, black sesame, yellow sesame, the procurement and transportation of the raw materials is very convenient, saving costs and stabilizing the supply of raw materials.

Currently, with the connection of the raw material areas, maintaining production activities and supplying the market with the cooking oil product of high quality, ensuring food hygiene and safety, the cooperative's products have gradually gained the trust of consumers and affirmed the product brand.

The cooperative creates regular jobs for 2 employees and 10 seasonal ones. In 2020, the peanut oil product of Yen Thuy Safe Agricultural Cooperative was recognized as the provincial 4-star OCOP standard, creating the momentum for developing the product. Currently, on average, the total revenue of the cooperative is nearly 1 billion dongs per year, and after deducting the interest rate is over 120 million dongs.

It is known that to achieve today's success, when he was still working as a worker, every time he took leave, Mr. Chien has been to many places to visit, learn and accumulate experience from oil pressing models. Sharing the plan in the coming time, Mr. Chien says: I hope to admit more members to expand the business capital, expand the scale and productivity of the cooperative so that I can buy all the peanut output of the district, creating stable output for the people, creating more jobs for the employees, bringing peanut oil products to the provincial market and reaching out to the world’s markets.

Now, the peanut growing farmers in Yen Thuy district all know Mr. Chien – t5he 8X young man, the director of Yen Thuy safe agricultural cooperative. With the will and energy, he has boldly associated with the farmers in the district to develop stable raw material areas, successfully building the brand for Yen Thuy peanut oil. Currently, the cooperative continues registering to participate in the OCOP program with the product from black sesame oil.
