(HBO) - As the 2021 Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday draws near, Hoa Binh’s mountainous district of Da Bac has carried out activities to help poor people enjoy Tet, ensuring social welfare in the locality.

An impoverished family in Tan Pheo (Da Bac) receives a Tet gift package from donors.

The Da Bac People’s Committee recently approved a list of beneficiary families and rice assistance for the upcoming Tet.

Accordingly, poor families in seven communes of Cao Son, Doan Ket, Tan Minh, Nanh Nghe, Tan Pheo and Tien Phong are eligible for the aid. The Da Bac People’s Committee ordered that handover of the assistance will be completed 10 days prior to Tet.

The communes are home to 360 households in total and 1,324 needy residents. Some 19.86 tonnes of rice will be distributed, with each person receiving 15 kg.

Previously, activities to support the poor ahead of Tet holiday were launched in the district. Sourced from the province’s assistance, 100 gift sets worth 650,000 VND (30 USD) each were handed over to disadvantaged families in Toan Son commune.

The province also offered aid relief to 160 poor, near-poor families and those in extremely difficult circumstances in the district.

Tet gifts were given to residents of Cao Son, Tan Pheo, Hien Luong, Nanh Nghe, Dong Chum, Giap Dat and Muong Chieng communes via the district’s Fatherland Front chapter.

In addition, from the district’s "Fund for the Poor”, Tet gifts were sent to 171 impoverished families in the communes of Trung Thanh, Dong Ruong, Tan Minh, Doan Ket, Yen Hoa, Tien Phong, Vay Nua and Tu Ly, along with Da Bac town.

Organisations including the trade union offered 30 gift packages to poor workers and public servants, while the veteran association and the Red Cross Society chapter launched fundraising campaigns to support the disadvantaged to enjoy Tet.

Some other organisations and individuals also joined the drive, as Thien Tam Fund and VinGroup conglomerate presented 150 gift packages worth 600,000 VND each to poor families in Tan Pheo.
