(HBO) - In the past few days, Bui Thi Tam in Huu Nghi ward (Hoa Binh city) feels happy because she learnt from the media that from January 1, 2022, the amount of money supported by the State for voluntary social insurance premium payment will increase from 15,400 VND to 33,000 VND per month from January 1, 2022.

She said: "I run a small kiosk in the wet market, so my income is not high. My children are studying, so my income is just enough to meet daily needs. Every month, I save a little to pay voluntary social insurance premiums in order to enjoy retirement pension when getting old. Recently, the mass media disseminates information about changes in payment and assistance levels. I am also happy that the State pays more attention to low-incomers. With rising market prices, life of people like me who can only afford low insurance premiums and thus receiving low pensions, is very difficult. Although the allowance is not much, this shows the State's concern for disadvantaged people”.

From January 1, 2022, freelance workers who participate in voluntary social insurance are supported with 33,000 VND per month by the State, instead of 15,400 VND, to pay their monthly premiums.

Recently, the provincial social insurance agency sent an official dispatch to the social insurance agencies of districts, the provincial post office, the agents collecting voluntary social insurance premiums on the implementation of collecting voluntary social insurance premiums from January 1, 2022.

For voluntary social insurance participants from poor households, the amount of money supported increases from 46,200 VND to 99,000 VND per month; while those from near-poor households are eligible for an increase from 38,500 VND to 82,500 VND per month; and others, from 15,400 VND to 33,000 VND per month. The provincial post office and district social insurance agencies actively direct premium collection agents to disseminate information on the new levels of support and collect voluntary social insurance premiums in accordance with the new regulation from January 1, 2022.

Bui Thi Tam added: The "good" side of voluntary social insurance is that you can base on your monthly income to pay social insurance premiums in accordance with your financial conditions. Participants can also choose a very flexible payment: Monthly, quarterly, every six months, yearly, or one-time payment for many years. Through research, I learned that along with the pension adjusted on the basis of the increase in the consumer price index and economic growth in accordance with the social insurance fund, voluntary social insurance participants can benefit from increases in the retirement pension when they retire.

In addition, voluntary social insurance participants can receive health care with benefits of up to 95 percent of expenses covered by the health insurance fund. Especially, when one person who has participated in voluntary social insurance for five years or more, dies, their relatives will be entitled to a funeral allowance and a one-time survivorship allowance. With so many practical benefits, participating in voluntary social insurance will help freelance workers have a "fulcrum" when they reach the end of their working age./.
