As the 2024-2025 school year is approaching, many parents are taking the opportunity to purchase textbooks for their children in preparation for the new academic year. This year, the price of textbooks and reference books decreased by 10-40% depending on the type of book, helping parents save some money.

Parents buy textbooks and school supplies for their children at Hoa Binh bookstore in Tan Thinh ward, Hoa Binh city.

As a major supplier of textbooks in the province, Hoa Binh Books and School Equipment JSC (BSECO) has proactively prepared sets of textbooks for various educational levels and equipped its staff with necessary knowledge to advise parents and students in selecting books for the new school year.

To ensure consumer rights, price lists are posted at the sales points. Books are arranged by category, and staff available to provide guidance, making it easier for customers to find and choose books.

Recently, a lot of parents and students have come to Hoa Binh Bookstore of BSECO in Tan Thinh ward (Hoa Binh city) to buy textbooks and school supplies for the new school year. In addition to offering discounts up to 40%, it is implementing various promotion programmes, such as giving a voucher worth 20,000 VND (0.8 USD) for invoices from 300,000 VND and 50,000 VND voucher for invoices from 500,000 VND for customers when purchasing books at the store.

Since May, the company has been preparing warehouse, human and financial resources to secure textbooks from publishers for timely distribution.

Nguyen Minh Hai, BSECO’s Deputy Director, said that the company has purchased more than 2.3 million textbooks for the 2024-2025 school year. The company has already distributed 90% of the books to schools of all levels across the province.

Publishers have supplied enough books for the company to distribute to students, which is expected to be completed by the end of August, so that they will have all textbooks before the start of the school year. Additionally, many local dealers have also obtained textbooks from the company for retail sales.

Recently, the Vietnam Education Publishing House has launched a programme to donate books to students from disadvantaged backgrounds in Hoa Binh and across the country. This is a very humanitarian and practical programme, thus, the company hopes that the government will continue to issue favourable policies for donating or subsidising textbooks for students from poor, near-poor households, particularly disadvantaged areas, and ethnic minority-inhabited regions.
