An exhibition entitled Chuoi Rung (Wild Banana) featuring nearly 40 artworks by painter Tran Ngoc Hung is opened to public in Hanoi.
Wild Banana showcases a new series of paintings made by Hung over more than 10 years, featuring powder colours on Vietnamese traditional do (poonah) paper. This is the first time the artist has debuted his do paintings.
Photographer Le Bich, who is appreciated for his acclaimed photo collections of Vietnam’s folklore culture and festivals, is holding an exhibition entitled "Colours of Life’ at the Vietnamese Women's Museum in Hanoi, with 40 pictures on display capturing how Vietnamese women use their craftsmanship to preserve the cultural heritage of their villages.
Artisan Nguyen Van Quyen from Dan Vien hamlet, Cao Vien commune, Thanh Oai district in Hanoi, is one of the last few artisans who are masters of the art of making ‘keo quan’ lantern, a traditional hand-made lantern with vivid rotating paper-cut figures on the cover. Despite his old age, Quyen still works steadfastly to preserve the traditional craft.
Some of the country’s intangible cultural heritages will go on show at a festival in the northern province of Tuyen Quang on September 20.
