Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc chaired the 4th meeting of the Coordinating Council for the Northern Midland and Mountainous Region, held in Hoa Binh city, the northern province of Hoa Binh, on December 18.
Member of the Party Central Committee and Minister of
Transport Tran Hong Minh; representatives from the council's standing bodies –
the Ministry of Planning and Investment, Ministry of Natural Resources and
Environment, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and Ministry of
Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs; as well as leaders from the provincial
Party Committees and People's Committees of the 14 provinces in the region
attended the event.
The conference also saw the participation of
alternate member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Hoa Binh
provincial Party Committee Nguyen Phi Long, Standing Deputy Secretary of the
provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People's Council Bui
Duc Hinh, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of
the provincial People's Committee Bui Van Khanh, along with other provincial
officials.

The meeting aimed to assess the region's
socio-economic development situation in 2024, review the council's activities
during the year, and outline plans for 2025. It also looked into key investment
projects in the region and listened to opinions from ministries, sectors, and
localities regarding common issues in the region.
In his opening remarks, Deputy Prime Minister Ho
Duc Phoc, who is also Chairman of the council, said that during this meeting,
the council reassessed the regional master plan and regional connectivity set
forth at the 3rd meeting.
Participants focused on discussing solutions to
promote the implementation of the plan and the goals under the Politburo's
Resolution No. 11-NQ/TW on directions for socio-economic development and
national defence - security safeguarding in the region by 2030, with a vision
to 2045; as well as localities' proposals regarding regional development and
connectivity.
Phoc emphasised that the region still has the
highest rate of poor and near-poor households in the country while its its
economy is small, and the percentage of communes that meet new-style
countryside criteria remains low.
He asked participants in the meeting to suggest
solutions to accelerate economic growth, strengthen development, and achieve
the goals set forth in Resolution No. 11-NQ/TW of the Politburo.

At the meeting, Nguyen Phi Long, alternate
member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Hoa Binh provincial
Party Committee, presented a speech on sustainable tourism development in
harmony with economic growth, cultural preservation, environmental protection
and infrastructure development in the region.
Throughout his revolutionary life, Uncle Ho visited Hoa Binh province four times. He also sent dozens of letters, telegrams, greeting cards, and heartfelt messages to local officials, Party members, and people of all ethnic groups, urging them to remain united, support one another, strive for progress, and actively engage in both production and resistance efforts to build a prosperous homeland.
To unlock the full potential of its forest resources, the standing board of the provincial Party Committee on July 30, 2020 issued a Resolution on the sustainable development of production forests through 2025, with a vision toward 2030.
In recent years, the education and training sector in Cao Phong district, Hoa Binh province, has actively integrated its tasks with the promotion of studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s thought, ethics, and style.
