(HBO) - Although there are a great number of young people and youth union members regularly working away from home, the remaining young people in Gia Mo Commune still bring into play their vanguard role in doing useful tasks for the community and in the movement of new-style rural area building.

in repairing the inter-village road (the photo was taken in the Ren-Tram
inter-village road).
From 2012-2017,
the commune’s chapter of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCM CYU) organized 120 voluntary campaigns with
the participation of over 5,000 youths, focusing on upgrading transport and
irrigation systems, and social welfare facilities. Specifically, local young
people have repaired and cleared bushes along the Gia Mo- Thanh Hoi inter-commune
road; 22.5 km of inter-village road, and dredged 12km of canals in rice fields. They also donated cash
worth 72 million VND for concreting six volleyball courts.
During the
campaign "Youths of Gia Mo commune join hands in building new-style rural
areas”, many outstanding examples have emerged in donating land and assets to
the building of public works.
The families
of Cao Viet Toan and Bui Van Thoa and many other youths from the Ren hamlet donated
over 1,500 sq.m of land and property on the land for expanding local roads.
In order to improve the material and spiritual life for local residents, and
build a civilized lifestyle in the locality, Gia Mo’s youths have joined hands
in building useful works such as a volleyball court, lighting networks in three
out of six hamlets, and a floating stage for art performance in Bo hamlet.
During the
recent Month of the Youth, the commune’s HCM CYU chapter arranged many meaningful
activities, focusing on repairing the road from Ren hamlet to Tram hamlet, and some
other ones in the commune. At the same time, volleyball and badminton contests were
also organised.
The vanguard
spirit of young people in the commune is also reflected in charitable activities.
Events such as "Volunteer Saturday”, "Green Sunday” are maintained regularly.
The voluntary blood donation movement also received active response from local
youths. In the 2012 – 2017 period, about 150 youths in Gia Mo registered to
donate blood, with many donating blood for many consecutive years.
The most outstanding
examples in blood donation in the locality were Mr. Bui Van Hanh, vice
secretary of the commune’s HCM CYU chapter with eight times, Mr. Bui Van
Hieu from Dung hamlet’s youth branch – nine times.
In addition, the commune’s youth union also regularly organises visits to
present gifts, and give support in the form of labour to welfare policy
beneficiary families in the locality.
With its great efforts andpractical contributions, Gia Mo commune’s HCM CYUchapter was
awarded three certificates of merit by the HCM CYU Central Committee . This is
also one of the leading local youth organizations in Tan Lac
district./.
