(HBO) – During days of the historical April, staff of the Post Office of northern Hoa Binh province actively joined hands with the Division of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs of Hoa Binh city to launch an online portal on martyrs, martyr’s graves and cemeteries.


The Communist Youth Union of the Bank of Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) coordinates with Youth Union chapters of BIDV Hoa Binh, Hoa Binh province and  Kim Boi district to present a house to the family of Bui Thi Deo, in Vay village of Thuong Tien commune, whose husband laid down his life during the resistance war against the US.

Nguyen Thanh Thuy, Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, said information collection was carried out at 25 martyrs’ cemeteries across the province. The portal aims to provide information on martyrs, martyrs’ graves and cemeteries, reducing difficulties of their family members in finding their relatives’ graves and easing the pain of war. It also gives support in incense offering and grave improvement during holidays and the Vietnam Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27).

It is part of activities to express gratitude to those who sacrificed their lives for the country’s independence and freedom.

Statistics of the department show that during the two resistance wars, as well as national building and safeguarding and international mission implementation, Hoa Binh province had 5,876 martyrs, including 2,977 fallen soldiers in the war against the US. There were 2,089 war invalids and invalid policy beneficiaries; 898 wounded soldiers; 2,954 people exposed to toxic chemical and 232 heroic mothers (with nine of them being alive).

Campaigns to show respect and gratitude to those who rendered services to the nation have been effectively implemented by sectors and agencies of all levels. Revolutionary contributors and policy beneficiary families always receive due attention and support.

All the Vietnamese heroic mothers received life-time support from agencies and units. In 2017, the province paid preferential allowances worth 214 billion VND for over 9,000 revolutionary contributors and took care of 3,387 people at a budget of 4.59 billion VND. It also presented 48,849 gift packs worth 9.71 billion VND from the President and the province to those who rendered services for the nation and their relatives on special occasions and Lunar New Year. And it mobilised 1.06 billion VND for the provincial gratitude fund.

Besides, 112 new houses were built and 94 others were upgraded at a cost of 6 billion VND. Agencies and units of the province handed over 291 saving books worth total 337.8 million VND to local policy beneficiaries. All communes, wards and towns were recognised to effectively carry out the martyrs and war invalids work. No documents remaining untouched were reported./.

Provincial People's Committee holds monthly meeting

The Hoa Binh provincial People’s Committee held its monthly conference in virtual form on April 2 to review draft documents to be submitted to the standing board of the provincial Party Committee and others under its management along with some other important issues. Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Bui Van Khanh chaired the event, which was connected with the people's committees of districts and cities in Hoa Binh.

Smokeless “Hoang Cam” stove – legendary initiative in Hoa Binh campaign

Smokeless 'Hoang Cam' kitchen was a small yet extremely significant initiative of a soldier chef named Hoang Cam in the Hoa Binh campaign in 1951 – 1952. This legendary stove, later named after him, accompanied the nation in the 1954 Dien Bien Phu Campaign, and during the resistance war against the US.

The 15th meeting of Hoa Binh province’s 17th-tenure Party organisation was held on March 26. Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Nguyen Phi Long, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People's Council Bui Duc Hinh, and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Bui Van Khanh co-chaired the event.
