A Vietnamese team of elementary school students just won an International Math Olympiad — said to be the most prestigious competition for math problem-solving in the Asia Pacific region.
And there’s more: It is
the first time a team from Vietnam has ever placed in the top four finalists at
the competition held at the Hwa Chong Institution in Singapore, reports the
Dantri Online Newspaper.
The win and gold medals say something very important about
Vietnamese and their math ability, said the team’s math coach.
The students are sixth
and seventh graders Hoang Ngoc Bao Khue, Pham Viet Hung, and Nguyen Nam Huy
from the Ngoi Sao Hanoi and Le Duc Anh from the Hanoi-Amsterdam elementary
schools.
