(HBO) – By fattening thin cattle for three or four months, after deducting expenses, each farming household can earn a profit of 3.5 – 4.5 million VND, even 7 million VND, per cow. This is the observable effect of the cattle fattening model in My Hoa commune, Kim Boi district.
By
fattening cattle, Quach Manh Hoan, a resident in Dong Hoa hamlet of My Hoa
commune (Kim Boi district), has earned an annual income of 200 million VND.
The My Hoa administration has taken the
outstanding farmers as examples in communications activities to encourage
locals to improve rearing practices and apply this farming model.
According to Vice Chairman of the communal
People’s Committee Ha Cong Tien, Hoa Binh province’s agriculture and forestry
extension centre introduced the cattle fattening model to My Hoa in 2018, and
35 households have been selected to pilot this farming.
The programme has supported local farmers with
14 tonnes of bran, farming materials and animal medicine to rear 105 cows. The
national agricultural and forestry extension centre also provided training in
farming techniques to farmers.
At the same time, 31 households in My Hoa
commune were chosen to take part in a grass cultivating programme to serve
cattle fattening. They were provided with cultivating techniques, 19 grass
cutting machines and over 5.3 tonnes of the VA06 grass variety.
Tien said there are more than 800 livestock
farming households across the commune, including 200 raising cattle.
Most of the fattened cattle are sold to traders
who will later sell products in Hanoi. Some clean food suppliers have also
shown their intention to purchase the local product. Consumption has been
rather smooth so far since supply has yet to meet demand.
The farming models applied in My Hoa have
supported one another, helping to improve the animal production value and local
living standards, the official added./.
