The press work in 2018 was more creative and disciplined, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam said at an annual press conference held at the beginning of the Lunar New Year on February 12.

The event was hosted by Nhan Dan Newspaper this morning, in collaboration with the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communications and Education, the Ministry of Information and Communications, and the Vietnam Journalists’ Association, aiming to review the press work last year and discuss plans for 2019.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy PM Dam emphasised that in 2018, the whole Party, the entire army and the people were excited as the country achieved outstanding achievements, which was highly praised by the Party General Secretary at a conference between the Government and the localities concerned recently. In such achievements, there is an important and indispensable contribution by the press. Resolution No. 01 by the Government in 2019 also identifies communications and information work as one of the major and important solutions in creating consensus and social beliefs, arousing aspirations of each citizen of a strong Vietnam.

Deputy PM Dam affirmed that in 2018, in addition to promoting its role, the press was more creative, more professional and more disciplined, reflected in the faster and more accurate manner of expression to depict the reality in various form, arousing decency in the whole of society. Furthermore, press staff nationwide had a better sense of professionalism and ethics.

Dam expressed his wish that in 2019, the Government and the press will work together to fulfill the set target and achieve better achievements than in 2018. The Deputy PM also urged the press to focus on promoting its role in cultural development in the near future to create specific changes, thus arousing the best qualities of the Vietnamese people.

Le Manh Hung, Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communications and Education, affirmed that the press agencies have effectively implement publishing activities on the occasion of the Lunar New Year, issuing attractive, diverse and unique spring publications.

Praising the responsibility and efforts made by press agencies across the country, Hung asked them to continue providing focused information to meet the requirements set forth in the future.
