The Deputy PM made the remarks at a meeting with Vice President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Shinya Ejima at the Government Headquarters on September 20.

Minh expressed his appreciation for the role of JICA in connecting and fostering the cooperation and friendship between Vietnam and Japan and thanked Japan for providing high-level ODA to Vietnam.

He affirmed that over the past 25 years, the ODA provided by the Japanese Government has made positive contributions to the development of Vietnam in all areas, particularly in infrastructure construction.

Japan has so far provided approximately US$27 billion worth of ODA for Vietnam, with a high rate of disbursement at 71%, Minh noted.

The Government leader stated that Vietnam is paying great attention to the effective use of external resources, including ODA capital, adding that the Vietnamese Government has put into place measures to improve the efficiency of foreign loans.

The JICA Vice President said that JICA is positively carrying out activities to support their bilateral cooperation with Vietnam, with the focus on three core areas, including infrastructure construction and economic structure reform; environmental issues and climate change adaptation; and the enhancement of State management capacity.

Shinya Ejima believes that, with the efforts of both countries, the formation and implementation of ODA projects will be promoted in the future.
