(HBO) – With the motto "join hands for the sake of the poor – Leave no one behind”, the Fatherland Front chapter of Hoa Binh, which manages the province’s "Fund for the Poor”, has issued guiding documents on fundraising.

With the support of the fund for the poor, Bui Thi Bem, a resident of Lai village of Tay Phong commune (Cao Phong district), is able to build a stable house.

Various firms, organisations and individuals in the province and other localities donated to the fund in response to the call, especially in peak time. Major corporations of Vietnam also contributed to the fund at the provincial level, including the T&T Group, the FLC Group and the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group.

In 2019, more than 14.9 billion VND (nearly 640,000 USD) was raised for the funds at all levels, of which 8.5 billion VND was from 143 organisations and individuals for the provincial level, 3 billion VND for the fund at the district level, and 3.2 billion VND for the commune level.

The fund aims to help local people overcome poverty, contributing to the sustainable poverty alleviation target. Therefore, its distribution needs to follow regulations and avoid misuse. The selection of beneficiaries must be in line with guidelines of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee.

As many as 208 new houses were built and 104 others repaired thanks to the funding, while poor students also received support. Due attention was paid to locals on the traditional Lunar New Year holiday.

Models of growing pumpkins for seed and raising cattle have been carrying out in Du Sang and Kim Boi communes (Kim Boi district) in an effort to realise the target.

In addition, the Fatherland Front committees at all levels have called for donation of construction materials, calves and labour days to assist poor households, with an aim to reduce the province’s poverty rate to 11.36 percent.

In the coming time, the management board of the fund for the poor will continue fundraising activities, striving to raise at least 8 billion VND annually.

More than 50 percent of the assistance will be earmarked for the construction and reparation of houses, thus enabling people to take a stable control of their lives.

The province’s Fatherland Front chapter will review tasks on sustainable poverty reduction and economic models. Along with due attention from the Party, State and social support, poor families and people in the province are urged to exert efforts in escaping poverty./.
