(HBO) – The Ethnic Affairs Board under the Hoa Binh provincial People’s Council on September 16 inspected the implementation of recommendations regarding the infrastructure and production support programmes for specially disadvantaged communes under the national target programme for the 2016-2020 period in Kim Boi district.

According to the district’s report, in compliance with post-supervision recommendations by the Ethnic Affairs Board regarding infrastructure and production support for specially disadvantaged communes during the 2016-2020 period, the People’s Committee of Kim Boi district directed agencies to provide assistance to them. So far, the district has invested over 122 billion VND in 272 infrastructure works and built 12 others using over 9 billion VND of aid from the Irish Government. It also offered plant varieties, breeding animals and farming equipment to 16,405 households, and multiplied 10 poverty reduction models at a total cost of more than 27 billion VND.
At the event, participants asked for more details on several issues regarding post-investment management of infrastructure projects, several livelihoods assistance programmes for residents in specially disadvantaged communes, forest economic development at district level, and mechanisms and policies for officials in communes after mergers.
Head of the provincial Party Committee’s Mass Mobilisation Commission, Chairman of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and head of the Ethnic Affairs Board Bui Tien Luc spoke highly of the district’s efforts in implementing policies for ethnic groups in specially disadvantaged areas. He suggested raising public awareness of ethnic work and policies, improving the supervisory role of the VFF and socio-political organisations in the implementation of policies in infrastructure and production support, as well as enhancing supervision over works and projects after investment, to ensure residents can enjoy the benefits of those works./.

To unlock the full potential of its forest resources, the standing board of the provincial Party Committee on July 30, 2020 issued a Resolution on the sustainable development of production forests through 2025, with a vision toward 2030.
