In 2021, concrete tasks and solutions were implemented to perform ethnic minority-related tasks. In particular, plans and projects were designed to combine resources for socio-economic development in rural, mountainous, and ethnic minority-inhabited areas, especially in communes and villages with special disadvantages. At the same time, efforts were made to build new-style countryside and sustainably reduce poverty in ethnic minority communities.
To prepare for the implementation of the national target programme on socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas in the 2021 - 2030 period, the board proactively proposed the provincial People’s Committee order relevant sectors and district-level administrations to coordinate in surveying the socio-economic situation in those areas. It also proposed demand for funding and resources for the implementation be detailed. Ten sub-projects are expected to be carried out in the first phase from 2021 to 2025.
To continue fulfilling its role as an advisor to the provincial People’s Committee on ethnic minority affairs, the board set up several tasks for 2022.
Addressing the meeting, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Dinh Cong Su requested that in 2022, the board continue coordination with relevant agencies to propose and fruitfully implement the resolutions, directives, projects, plans, and action programmes on ethnic minority affairs issued by central and provincial authorities.
With regard to the national target programme on socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, it should work with competent agencies to build principles, criteria, and levels of allocating funding from the central budget and the corresponding capital from the local budget.
The board also needs to cooperate with departments, sectors, and district-level People’s Committees to press on with surveying and verifying the beneficiaries, have a better grasp of the local situation, learn more about local ethnic people’s aspiration, and prevent unexpected incidents.
At the meeting, many collectives and individuals with outstanding performance were presented with certificates of merit by the provincial People’s Committee and the Board for Ethnic Minority Affairs./.
