Phi Long, alternate member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the
Hoa Binh provincial Party Committee, examines a tourist site in Mai Chau district.
Mai Chau is a mountainous district designated as
one of the key localities for tourism development in Hoa Binh province. It has
reportedly carried out all-round measures for building the Party and political
system and performing socio-economic development tasks, thereby obtaining
positive results.
So far, seven communes in the district
(equivalent to 46.67%) have been recognised as new-style rural areas, with each
meeting 16.13 of the 19 criteria on average. Up to 50.3% of the planned public
investment has been disbursed and 35.9 billion VND (over 1.5 million USD)
collected for the State budget (54.06% of the target).
Many measures have also been implemented to
develop tourism in connection with new-style rural area building. Since the
start of 2022, Mai Chau has welcomed 291,000 tourist arrivals and earned more
than 332 billion VND in revenue, rising 23,000 arrivals and 110 billion VND
from the same period last year.
At the meeting, officials of the district
proposed provincial authorities continue paying attention to the implementation
of Project No 09-DA-TU, resources for the Mai Chau township development
programme by 2030 and the planning of the Mai Chau district region by 2045, and
funding for infrastructure construction.
Highly valuing the district’s achievements, Long
asked Mai Chau to continue giving heed to the Party building, the corruption
combat, and the mass mobilisation work while grasping cadres and Party members’
opinions to promote consensus on the implementation of political and defence -
security tasks.
In terms of tourism development, it needs to
protect natural landscapes, the environment, and cultural identities of ethnic
groups; attract resources for developing infrastructure, especially transport
facilities linking tourist attractions; tap into local festivals, craft
villages, and community-based tourism to boost cultural tourism; and develop
high-quality tourism products to better meet domestic and foreign visitors’
demand, he noted.
In Mai Chau district, the Secretary also made a
fact-finding tour of some local tourist sites.
