(HBO) – A delegation of the provincial Party Committee led by Nguyen Phi Long, alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Committee, on December 20 had a working session with the Party Committee of Ngoc Lau commune in Lac Son district, on the implementation of socio-economic development tasks.

Ngoc Lau is an extremely disadvantaged mountainous commune of Lac Son district,
with five hamlets and 655 households, totaling 3,075 people. Up to 99.6% of its
population is of Muong ethnic group. The commune Party Committee has nine cells
with 232 members.
This year, the Ngoc Lau commune Party Committee focused on
leading the implementation of political tasks and achieved positive results,
completing 18 out of the 19 targets. Up to now, the commune has achieved 13 out
of the 19 criteria of new-style rural areas. The per capita income is 36.8
million VND (1,560 USD), poor households account for 37.25% of the total
households, and the near-poor households, 26.25%.
However, local Party cells have not performed effectively
without any breakthrough solution to boost socio-economic development.
At the meeting, Ngoc Lau commune authorities asked for funding
to build a hall at the communal People's Committee office and cultural houses
in residential areas, funds for repairing and upgrading primary and secondary
schools; invest in inter-village roads; and increase allowances for part-time
cadres at the commune and village levels, branches and societies.
Provincial and district authorities were called on to introduce
competent investors to the commune that also asked for solutions to improve the
efficiency of land use in the area allocated to Thai Hoa Coffee Company.
Concluding the meeting, Secretary of the provincial Party
Committee Nguyen Phi Long acknowledged the achievements of the Party Committee
of Ngoc Lau commune in Party building and implementation of political duties
and social welfare.
He suggested commune leaders continue to pay attention to the
construction of the Party and political system, evaluate the mid-term results,
renovate activities, and pay attention to the inspection, supervision, and
development of the Party.
Long called on local authorities for more attention to
preserving and promoting the fine traditional values of the Muong ethnic group;
promoting the will to self-reliance, self-strengthening, boost production;
combining the implementation of new-styled rural area construction programme
and sustainable poverty reduction.
He asked for solutions to improve spiritual life and living
conditions for local people.
The
same day, the Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and the delegation
presented gifts to three families family under the preferential treatment
policy in the commune./.
